Of course, we've seen these things aren't always a great indicator of where highs will end up.

Hoping for a big time underachiever. When it comes to hot weather patterns, that’s the rarest event of all.

Definitely not. Will probably be a bit slower of a climb this afternoon.

The high here yesterday was 81F. Currently 85F.

When was the last time you had even an inch of snow since Dec 2021?

For Springfield (NOT EUG) it has likely had the least of any location in the PNW. Some nights of a dusting and nothing else. Didn't even cover the roads.

The must snow I've had since 2017 is 2".  Had the same max ice thickness as max snow depth, which is interesting in a tragic sort of way.

The South Metro is so overdue for a big event. Way more so than Eugene/Springfield, which has had some incredible events the last several years, including 8” of snow in December 2021 while we just had a dusting up here.

A little ground fog this morning on the way to work.
And I noticed the grass is still quite wet in the shade from the morning dew while at home for lunch even though it’s 77 degrees now. Definitely getting more fall like by the day.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Dec 2021 was very close to great, just slightly too warm.  My parent's place in Estacada at 800' had 8" snow depth with that, presumably more than that actually fell.

Low temps today...quite a range!  It's 94 now, +17 over yesterday.  We'd have a high of 106 if the "if this trend continues" theory played out.

100 at 3000 feet just east of EUG.  That is straight up insane.  Even up here I'm seeing low 90s at places like the Fire Training Academy and Lester.

Oh come on! I need to make up for lost time after that January 2024 debacle!

Which event (wasn't that long ago) was it where the low was supposed to track in around Tacoma or Seattle and everyone north of it was supposed to get a bunch of snow with temps remaining below freezing…But it ended up tracking further north and everyone turned to rain from about Marysville south while I remained in the 20’s with lots of snow?

That was magical!

Maybe December 2022? Though that did end up being Seattle’s biggest ice storm of the century.

We're pretty due for an event where the South Sound scores big and you get skunked.

For those that didn't see this last night, but have heard all of the hoopla about Kevin Martin, this is worth a read.  Absolute jaw dropping accounts of some of his off the charts crazy behavior.

North Sound has been pretty lucky since 2017. There were seven straight winters I was in Bellingham (downtown, no less!) when I got at least 5” of snow per winter, and all but one winter (17-18) had a good Fraser river event.

Just provide me a parabolic mirror, a tower with LOS to the airport, and I'll do the rest.

We had ice as well up here with that one.

They are kind of limping along compared to other locations in the northern valley. HIO already 97F.

It reached Bellingham too. The cold air layer with that ice storm was incredibly shallow…it was 27 degrees but the rain was forming puddles on the snow. Though most of it did turn to ice. I think we had more than 1/2” of ice by the end.

I'll work on that lol.  Not weather related but I have a NE wind now and 98 degrees.  2nd hottest September temp for me.

That's a major issue facing a lot of cities across the country. Covid was the death blow to office real estate.

Definitely, but Downtown Portland has had the highest office vacancy rate in the country.

https://www.oregonlive.com/business/2024/03/downtown-portlands-office-vacancy-rate-is-highest-in-the-nation-report-says.html

Obviously the high taxes and perception that downtown is still pretty lawless (partially true at least)  have exacerbated things there. Downtown foot traffic hasn't recovered nearly as much as other major cities since the pandemic, either.

I wondered what happened to that guy. He seems like a guy that could have served in the Nixon administration. His anemometer is never straight.

My experience bears this out. There have been Friday evenings I’ve walked through downtown and it’s practically a ghost town. Whenever I visit Seattle, I’m amazed at all the crowds.

Interesting, I didn't realize Portland was leading the way with that.
