Sure, or even 2012-13. Pretty forgettable with patchy snow and still ended up with some prolonged chilly periods, albeit without significant arctic air.

We might be due for another inversion fest like that.

Horrible. Just horrible. Isn’t it, Jesse? We took the kids to a park that contains a water park. Temp was 85F. Kids laughing from having a good time. Such Norman Rockwell moments with nuggets of precious memories are the bane of our civilization.

Today was a great day to get lost at Flowerworld and kick off some end of season activities. My old farmers gut is telling me that I’ve probably got 40~ days before the first freeze and ~60 for the first hard one, so I’ve got time to get some dahlias and one last reseeding for the young lawn.

I won’t be sad though if we can get some crisp nights in soon or a few days of dark and damp.

I wouldn't say I'm out, but statistically our luck with landing favorable DJF (mostly D and F) patterns is bound to dry up sooner or later and I feel it's very likely nearing the end of its course.

When you look back on how many smelly turds we had in the 1900-2015 period it puts into perspective that there's a pretty good chance we see something at least relatively close to that soon. I'm talking about a winter without any subfreezing highs or widespread significant lowland snowfall up and down the I-5 corridor. And it doesn't necessarily have to be an all-timer to be a meh winter. More like 30-40th percentile.

You're forgetting we're in a NEW NORMAL.

O the snow, the beautiful snow!
Filling the sky and the earth below!
Over the house-tops, over the street,
Over the heads of the people you meet,
Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Beautiful snow! it can do nothing wrong.

A toasty 94 here in Suncadia as we pulled in a couple hours ago. Room is right above the pool filled with screaming kids. No offense to those with screaming kids, just not my thing anymore since my kids well beyond screaming age. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit quieter as some of the kids head home to go back to school.

That same cloud band passed over us on Lake Sammamish around 2 p.m.   I mentioned we might feel a couple rain drops but it was so warm out there it would have felt nice.   I think the thickest part of the cloud lasted for about 10 minutes and then we had uninterrupted sun the rest of the day.

Disappointing.  It has still been a pretty good minimum, but this cycle is a lot higher than expectations.  I suppose this could be a brief crescendo before it really tanks though.
