75/59 today here…looks like the marine push is underway. Smoke is significantly improved compared to the last few days however it really never got too bad. Much better than 2017, 2020 and 2022.

The upcoming weather looks pretty great for mid September. Looks like lots of upper 60s to near 70 with some steady marine influence. Decent rain event mid week too. Could do a lot worse should keep the fires in check and be pleasant.

I think today makes #31 for EUG, which will tie with last year for 4th place all-time (#1, #2, #3 are all since 2014).

Trying for another late push to 90 here, but it may not make it. 88º currently.

It's arrived here, too. Air is cool and moist and fresh. Still some smoke aloft, though.

Hopefully our last real smoke intrusion of the year, little rain coming up combined with onshore flow and longer nights should prevent any extreme fire danger in the next 7-10 days.

This should be it unless we get a strong dry cold front with continental winds later in the month.

After lows in the last three winters of 8, 10, and 7˚F, some, but not all, of my neighbourhood palm trees have given up the ghost.

That makes my day right there!  That cold wave you guys had last winter was a beast for sure.  Even down here it was impressive.  Our neighbors have lost some over the years from the very dry / cold east wind we get.

The number of 120ft skinny+sickly looking conifers around my uncle’s neighborhood in Everett was concerning, to say the least. The smallest puffs of wind were inducing a low frequency sway in most of them.

Next big daddy windstorm will drop all of them like toothpicks. Will probably be tens of thousands of trees down in that area alone.

It won’t be hot here if the ridge remains centered in eastern Canada, though. Would be cool/dry N/NE flow. So I’m fine with that.
