31/19 day here on October 30/1935, which is pretty remarkable.  Winter took a few months off that year and then February got serious

Yeah that was an odd season with both the latest and earliest sub-40F maximums on record for a lot of places. In December and January everything dumped into the eastern part of the continent and then we had our coldest February of the century. Not how most of us would have drawn it up but probably would have been fun nevertheless.

It’s a good thing Jesse is on vacation. Your picking up of boating as a hobby would not set well with him.

I've boated here and there but never got into it. This summer it all changed.  I'm hooked. Cruising around on a 85 degree day is amazing.  We see killer whales all the time in hood canal. We live in a awesome boating area. But I can't afford to do it every weekend lol. We used 1000 bux of fuel on banks lake in 3 days . But I was just hauling a** and having fun. I went the entire length of lake 27 miles at 70 mph haha. 140 in gas gone.

Yeah, my dad spent 50+ years fixing boats and I suspect is one of the big reasons I just couldn’t get on board with it over the years. Front row seat to how much of an absolute money pit they can become, especially if you just neglect them a teency bit. Plays well with the fact I have tightwad tendencies.

I had snow at my place on Finn Hill in Bothell on October 30, 1984.  Icy roads on Halloween morning.  Bellingham had snow in late October 1991.  The rest of that winter was horrific though.

Have seen 8” fall on 12 Oct, but that was in the Rockies where such things are known to happen.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Mountains are a whole different ballgame.  We had a major winter storm in the WA Cascades in September 1984.  Well before the end of the month too.  The mid 1980s were kold here.

Wasn’t in the high mountains or anything, though. Was in town. Major damage to deciduous ornamental trees and shrubs, which were still fully leafed-out at the time. Still not as unusual as it would be in the PNW lowlands, however. Saw big tree damage from unusually early or late heavy snowfalls happen a handful of times in a dozen years there.

Boy howdy....The jet boat run I did was when I was a marine deputy, we had 3 jet boats ranging from 19 to 23 ft, all with small block V8s.  We usually had 2 boats out 5-6 days a week, and had to put 40-70 gallons per day per boat.  We were the big dogs on the river, except one day when a guy from Alaska showed up at the ramp with his twin v8 jet boat (25-27ft long).  It was a forward helm, full windscreen/hardtop set up.  Can't even imagine what his fuel bill looked like.

I think if I ever got into the power boat scene, I would probably follow in @MossMan footsteps and go the jet ski route.  Fuel bill would be a little easier on the wallet!

Pretty shocking that you can get a day like that in October at that elevation. 2 coldest October days since I've lived here were October 30th 2019 with a 25/5 day and Halloween 2003 we had a 26/13 day with 2 inches of snow on the ground, was a good night to take the kiddos trick or treating

Fraser river outflow can get going a little earlier in the season than the Gorge.  In my lifetime October 31/1984 saw 32/25 with 7.5” of snow.  And October 28/1991 was 34/27 with 3” of snow.

Could end up getting something here judging by the angle it's coming in.  We'll see.

At any rate a lot of places are going to end way short precip wise vs model expectations.

Plenty of rain here the past few days more than many places. Still raining here and up to 0.30” today. 1.23” MTD. Pretty decent downpour and some thunder better than I was expecting here this afternoon pretty fun.

.38" MTD here.  Lots of shadowing.

The sky does look potentially thundery to the west right now though.

Looks like that cell that came through here is headed right to Covington. It was pretty heavy when it came the here wouldn’t be surprised if there was some lightning too. The bolt that hit here was super close. The thunder was instantaneous with the flash. Wish I had been filming that one but wasn’t expecting any lightning.

Your return marks the second to last sign that summer has come to an end and we can all get high off the fumes of H384.
