looks like tonight is rivaling the May event in some areas. might have to take a ride in a few.  the May one was incredible here

It will probably just a take a bit to get going here like it did last time.  The moon is going to interfere though.

I just wish that winter could have given this area one really good dump.  I had about 10 inches that winter, but it was just a lot of small ones.  At any rate this decade has had no problem dishing out some winter for us.

Unfortunately this one has a near-full moon. I tried to go look but that moon plus the city lights makes it impossible to see anything unless things really ramp up.

Full moon. Storm is 25% of May 10th. Not even in the ball park.

All of the troughs on the 0z GFS look very clipperesque.  Much drier than earlier runs, but plenty of cool shots.

Been disappointing down here the last 4ish winters. We have had only snowstorm more than 4in since the great 2019 winter. We are due. I think the last good south puget sound snowstorm was in Feb 2017.

It was also good for the central sound too. Power went out here from that one. Kind of surprised it didn’t go out from the snow it Nov 2022. The snow was even more we and heavy than it was in the 2017 event.

How much you get in Nov 2022? The most we had out here was like 3.5-4in but it turned to rain towards the end and the melting was on If I remember correctly. Feb 2017 was epic in South Hill. School was cancelled for almost a week with a foot of snow on the ground made for an epic senior year.

7 inches surprisingly. I think the cold east winds through the snoqualmie gap are what kept the precip as snow the entire time and the precip rate. A lot of the snow fell at 33 degrees.

Yea that's awesome man! I am working like crazy rn to save up to buy a piece of land anywhere but this anti snowzone here lol.I wanna do North Bend, Hood Canal or Oly. Duvall is also on the short list since I believe it gets up to 800 feet on the higher hills out there (correct me if I am wrong lol).

We really missed out in 2022-23 here. EUG even did way better than Springfield. We had a bunch of traces but that was it. Nothing that even made it to morning.

Yeah it does get to 800 feet. Lake Margaret is that elevation. There’s times where it’s a rain/snow mix here at 400 feet and then it will be sticking snow up there. I’ve heard that hill going up there can be treacherous during snow events though.

Interesting despite the dry and near record warm weather the lawn has been greening up nicely. We had a good watering regime this summer, and the sprinkling of light rain and clouds here and there has performed miraculous signs and wonders.

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard!!

Yeah the town of Moses Lake is depressing. However when my mom still lived on the lake she lived up north and well away from town so it was lovely there. Fun lake to jetski on as well since it’s large with lots of nooks and cranny’s to explore on the water.

When I moved to Vancouver I did some research on what parts of the city got the most snow and let that influence (not guide, influence, there were still other factors influencing my choice) my decision of which neighborhood to move into. I haven’t regretted it. Every year since I moved in there have been days with a thick blanket of white IMBY and mostly bare ground in and around Downtown.

I could have gotten even more snow if I was willing to have a somewhat longer commute. Sometimes I still fantasize about living on Burnaby Mountain (elevation 1,200 feet, and yes, there is a residential area up on top of it). Life is always about compromise.

Moses Lake is an alright vacation destination, although Pasco and Redding still reign supreme for best vacation destinations in the region.
