Cloudy, humid, and 69 here in Stamford. Looks like maybe some rain later.

Not far from the infamous McDonald's I went to last October that was selling $15 burgers.

Topped out at 15" here in February 2021. Tied with January 1998 for the biggest single snowstorm I've sniffed on the westside. A one hit wonder winter but as far as hits go, it was pretty good (sorry Andrew).

Hmm, first I've heard that one.

That was a very slow starting winter here, but had a very cold February (coldest since 1960) and an awesome March blizzard.

Yeah...I think this winter is going to be different than any this decade so far.

We had a nice little snow right before Christmas, and also a big windstorm in January where the power was out for about 3 days, so all in all it could have been much worse!

Models really did a 180. If Jessie was here he would be very unhappy.

Definitely feels more relaxing and easy going here on the forum ever since Jesse was let go.

Not a fan of the 12z GFS at all.  No implications for the coming winter, but just not what I like this time of year.

Lots of great info in that article. Reminds me of yet again the winter of all our lives, 2016-2017.  One thing they forgot to mention as well, like that year, this La Niña is also following an El Niño.

2016-17 ranks well below the best winter of my life.  Plenty cold. but we only had one really good snow and it was late in the season.  That having been said I would take my chances with the same general pattern again.  Details always play out differently.

To me his case is just bothersome.  Not sure what caused him to go down the rabbit hole he did.  I bluntly tried to get him to see he needed to own up to his own sheit, but he never did.

I'm ready for a true classic Pacific Northwest fall windstorm. The nostalgia is real. Only no damage to human wellbeing or life.

It's pretty obvious from this pic that the cold air behind it was the big driver that made it so bad.  Never seen it get so cold after a big blow like that.

NMME and C3S totally botched that winter over Siberia. A fail of monumental proportions.

2016/17 was not a true Niña winter. All Niña characteristics in tropical forcing were gone by Jan, and Feb/Mar was full blown Niño-costero.

yup

actually is probably better for winter in the long run, early cold sometimes not the best

I've seen a lot of cold autumns work out very well.  Still likely we will have a significant cold period this time.
