41.4 here this morning, my lowest of the season. Might have to change my screen name to Lame-Town.

I got a 41.7 which was also my coldest. October ends without a sub-40 reading.

Currently 2.99" of rain on the month here, looks like most of the additional rain tonight will go in the November count.

Snow sticking to the dirt here. Will count it as the first snow of the season!

Given what long range ensembles are showing and leading analogs for this winter and the upcoming period, I think the most likely scenario for November is:

1. Quite warm the first 2/3 of the month for most of the nation, particularly the northern tier.

2. Very wet first 2-3 weeks of month for PNW.

3. Flip to cooler and somewhat drier late in the month.

4. Strong signal for a much colder December nationally, with at least one Arctic blast likely late November to mid December period.

No doubt the models are showing a very mild period coming up for us.

Got down to 32.7 as the sun came up. Wide spread frost, but still no freeze. Starting to get late now

Shades of 1988 and 2016.  Certainly not a bad thing in the long run.

That sounds unusually late.

It is. Going to end up as the warmest Sep/Oct in Denver history. DEN's average first freeze is 10/7. This year it came on 10/25.

Earliest on record is 9/8 (1962 and 2020), latest is 11/15 (1944).

I'm not crazy about 1988 as an analog. Not only was it a strong -ENSO event, but the +QBO was weak and descending (this year is stronger and rising). The PDO was also only weakly negative that fall, unlike this year.

Also - the pattern the first half of November that year doesn't look like a great match to what's progged for 2024.

I’m fairly confident that the pnw will either be cold or stormy and cool starting mid Nov.

Seattle beat me with my low of 42.  Very unusual.  I was cloudy all night though.  Usually I run 10 to 12 degrees lower on a clear night.  Still looking for my first freeze and 51 degrees. 🤡

Winter has arrived in Minnesota.  It was 80 in the Twin Cites on Tuesday.   Today is also the anniversary of the Halloween blizzard in 1991 which remains the biggest snowstorm in history there.    I remember it well.   We were snowbound for like 4 days.

Minneapolis right now. Roads just wet like Fife.

34 currently with a rain snow mix, low went too far north and it's just a little too warm. Snows melting now, peaked at 1¾" (photo below is from earlier). Hopefully we can get a few inches tonight
