The crazy thing is this is pretty much a run of the mill cane and people continue to develop on the swamp that is FL.

99% of the time it's pretty enjoyable to live there.  It seems like everyone knows somebody that lives there.

Everywhere has their Achilles heel.  Here it will be earthquakes and tsunamis.  Maybe a VEI 7 eruption every now and then.

This trough here is starting to get quite respectable on the models.  GFS shows max temps low to mid 50s for all of week two.

Baker has the potential for an extremely violent eruption. That'd be fun!

Did somebody say SNOW?

The predecessor of Baker did have a VEI 7 a long time ago.  At least as bad as Mazama.  Most people don't even know that.

Can't even imagine how a flash flood happens with totally flat ground.  Is the storm surge THAT sudden?

There won't be any storm surge in Tampa and St. Pete... benefit of it going to the south resulting in east wind in that area.

I wonder if the sting jet is anything like the "poisonous tail" that hit our area in Dec 2006.

Oh…You are not currently in Florida? I had no idea there was “weather” going on around here and I assumed you were reporting from there down lol! I just looked at the local radar…

Thought for some reason that you were visiting down in Florida, but I must be thinking of a different forum member.

I had you mixed up with someone else and I had no idea that anywhere around here was getting any sort of weather. I thought we were all done with any rainfall until next week.

You’re not the only one who thought he might potentially be there haha, the thread has had so much hurricane related stuff lately someone reporting heavy rain totals threw me off too 😂

That sounds worse than the old dreaded warm nose.

That’s me   I don’t know anybody there.  My wife lived there a long time ago though.  She came back to Wa for some sane and regular weather.

Another Achilles heel Id probably say is more frequent than a tsunami would be wildfires.

Yeah, just another name.

“Sting jets are found in depressions which are slightly different to the classical ‘Norwegian model’ of depressions. In depressions with sting jets, there is a gap or fracture between the fronts, which has led to them also being known as ‘the poisonous tail of the bent-back occlusion’.”

I don’t either, but I do know people who once lived there.

Really not a surprise most people seem to know at least someone who lives there. It is the third most populous state.
