Yes.  Particularly Feb 1989 and Dec 1990.  Two of the most extreme Arctic blasts I have witnessed during close to solar max.

13-14 was very +NAO.. almost +2. There is almost no correlation on data over the N. Pacific and in the EPO domain.. I think they are referring to the NAO/AO. Pacific patterns happen further south.

I don't know why a higher solar cycle would lead to colder weather over Greenland and the Arctic circle though..  maybe lower defenses to space (10mb vortex)?

What a great winter over here. Tied the record lows of -28 twice. Two arctic blasts on a single winter!!!!  Probably won’t happen again in my lifetime. 2016-2017 was better tho. Great for duration. One day it will happen again. Hopefully…….

You guys actually have a colder than average temp correlation with +AO in the Wintertime..

Nithing visible in the city where I'm at, even after staring north for a minute. I'm so grateful I got to experience May's aurora regardless, everything else is the cherry on top.

I have yet to see anything nearly as good as May.  The pics from Montana were on that level though.

42 on the station down the road, some clouds are keeping it warmer.

Just a couple days til my new station that I am in desperate need of ships in. Both of the 2 stations I had and would use the average between eachother have broke in the past few months.

Did somebody say SNOW?

Love that mathematical lookin orb trough set to bomb out over the gulf of alaska the next four days. Currently models take its remnants overhead in about a week for a transient troughing period.

I like the new GFS, very wet. It would probably end the fire season east of the Cascades.
