Stuff changes over time - grass is usually greener. I grew up in SLC area and by the time I moved out in my early 20's a primary motivator was the idea of not scraping ice off my car for 15 minutes before work every week for 5 months. All I wanted was some endless 40 degree rain. After 20 years in PDX sometimes I miss the heck out of snow and sunshine too.
My parents loved the snow and climate of the high desert but they retired and became elderly and clearing your driveway gets exhausting.
Before last January when was your previous decent snowfall? I know 2022/2023 was bad out there.
I didn't expect last winter to have much, but it ended up having the best arctic blast locally since 1990
