Stuff changes over time - grass is usually greener. I grew up in SLC area and by the time I moved out in my early 20's a primary motivator was the idea of not scraping ice off my car for 15 minutes before work every week for 5 months. All I wanted was some endless 40 degree rain. After 20 years in PDX sometimes I miss the heck out of snow and sunshine too.
My parents loved the snow and climate of the high desert but they retired and became elderly and clearing your driveway gets exhausting.
The official H/L yesterday at GR was 66/18 there was 0.19” precipitation 3.7” of snowfall. The highest wind was 35 MPH out of the W there was no sunshine. For today the average H/L is 37/26 the record high of 60 was in 1949 and 1991 the coldest high of 18 was in 1995 the record low of -5 was in 1958 the warmest low of 42 was in 2006. The most snowfall of 6.0” was in 1972, the most on the ground was 12” in 1970 and 2000.
Here in MBY I recorded 5” of snowfall yesterday and there is now a total of 5” on the ground here. The overnight low and current temperature is 11.
This has been the GL"s season of Snow Squall Warnings...My goodness, it's like the 3rd event so far of the season...Nature gearing up for January and February???
Your video just took me back to memory lane when I experienced a snow squall like this a few years back! Gosh, I miss Winter...makes me want to make plans for a longer trip back to Chicago sometime this Winter. Congrats! Nice Christmas by the way...
Judging by looking outside maybe about 2 inches. It’s hard to tell as it was all wind driven. Still in a winter weather advisory till 10 am. I’ll take it and hoping others can cash in this winter.
I think January at least starts real winter down here. That's a good thing to see. There are a lot more positives here than negatives.
I've been away for a good bit, but I expect things to start rolling soon enough.
