Kicking off April with a send off to winter. Probably the final snow of the season for me. Season total will end up at 31.25”. Low of 29, 30 right now.

true sign of spring,  the sound of weed whackers and leaf blowers in the neighborhood.  always seems early to me but weather permitting they start the first week of April here most years

28.9" of snow so far this 'winter'. about 55-60% of normal.  so far the my worst winter in spokane in 7 years here.  so much blown potential.  giving it a D-

Pretty awesome to see some snow in Central Oregon this morning. 5 years ago today we got about 1/2" of snow during LOCKDOWN.

Ended up with 21" of snow this winter. Not a catastrophe, but definitely below average. Like I said yesterday, C+, not great, could have been a lot worse.

The Willamette Valley getting a nice snow event in February was huge for them. It wasn't a regional dud by any stretch. Maybe next year. ;)

If Spokane gets no more snow this season, it will be only the third sub-30" winter since 2006. Pretty good stretch considering long term mean is 43". So it's more like 67% of normal.

1980-2005 had 10 sub-30" winters, one every 2.5 winters.

O the snow, the beautiful snow!
Filling the sky and the earth below!
Over the house-tops, over the street,
Over the heads of the people you meet,
Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Beautiful snow! it can do nothing wrong.

Didn’t know Spokane averaged so much more than Bend but it makes sense. I average about 30” on the south end of town here so I’m just slightly above average.

Winter recap:

1” today so a season total of 31.75”. Just above average. 104 freezes so far with a min high of 22 on 2/12 and min low of -4 on 2/12. 43 days with snow in the air, 30 snowcover days, and 7 calendar months with snow.

Water year total so far is 12.34”, with 6 months to go, I’m already above average for the year.

I’m having a tough time deciding between B- and C+, but I think I’ll go with C+. 24” fell after 2/1 so this winter gets docked for lack of snow during the holiday period.

Almost certainly overdone, but GEM gives Denver a foot of snow by end of the week. Some pretty miserable weather for Rockies home opener Friday lol.

Cleared up in NB now too!   But too late for temps to recover from that last band of rain.

Hey that's pretty cool. Often Yreka gets less than Mt Shasta City or Dunsmuir to the south and Ashland to the north.

We had breakfast there last week, I was surprised that their outdoor pools were open.  Indoor pool and hot tub are open year round.

I've always loved their breakfasts.  Now that we live here we've gotten to know the owners, both the current owners and the original owners (parents of the current owner), who have both since passed on.  He played the alphorn at breakfast on the deck rail up until he was about 80.

Oh wow that is so awesome, love how it has stayed in the family! Looking forward to breakfast for sure.
First time I have ever stayed here and we definitely made the correct choice, great place!! The indoor pool is great (had it to ourselves this evening) and they have live piano playing every evening it sounds like along with movie nights I believe.
