Hey that's pretty cool. Often Yreka gets less than Mt Shasta City or Dunsmuir to the south and Ashland to the north.

It’s just really rainshadowed. Kind of feels a little like a southern version of Wenatchee area or the Okanogan valley with the rugged Klamaths as a backdrop.

Dunsmuir’s a lot more cut off from cold continental air, it’s kind of just Redding but at elevation. Their high upslope precip rates sometimes lead to big dumps of concrete under pretty marginal temps, though.

Actually it could rain 2' in some places over a week.

Looks like only up to 1.67' is forecasted currently in spots according to that map.

I went with up to 20" for my math, yours seems more in line though.

Haven't been paying too much attention to the forum the past several days but I was wondering why the March thread got so quiet LOL....I guess its already April.  We've been having pretty nice days up here, decent amount of sun, with very light rain (.02-.03") each night the past couple of nights.

People were posting snow totals for the season, and for me this was an absolute bullsh*t winter.  I think we ended up with about 1"...maybe 1.5".

Will the Euro or GFS be right for Sunday?  One shows rain first thing, the other not till dinner time/sunset.

It will start raining early.    This happens all the time with the models speeding things up as it gets closer.   Happened this past Sunday as well.

ECMWF is clearly figuring out the GFS has been right all along.

12Z ICON now brings the rain in late Saturday and Sunday is an all day soaker.    We might lose Saturday as well since there is another 4 days for timing to continue creeping up.

Great for my lawn, garden, and our forests. Probably also portends to a warm and dry May and June as what goes down must come up.

This is a great start to spring. April is typically the month we see a rapid decrease in precipitation from about 4" now to 2.5" by the end. This will probably to a drier May/June time frame though lol.

Yuck... spread it out more.   We all know how this works.  Very wet for a long time and then it completely flips to the opposite.   Not a great start to spring in that regard.   Better to have some dry weeks mixed in right now.   We haven't even been close to a dry week... we can barely manage a 2-day break.

Since coming home from college nearly every day down here has had at least some sunshine, even the cooler/showery days.

Ensemble means don't look particularly wet right now, either.

Didn't say it was raining all the time.    But the pattern has been persistently wet.  It is what it is and it's probably going to flip and be unusually dry.  I have learned to perversely cheer against my own preferences at this time of year for a greater reward when it matters more.   😀

Very close to snow here a couple of times, the trough axis is just a little to far south, but overall it looks to remain chilly, active, and with mountain snow at times. It's really the best thing we could ask for. Great TRENDS.

Yeesh. I don't mind some rain once in a while but I need the sun. Hopefully things trend drier for mid month

Seems to make sense that the other shoe would drop at some point, after a sunny, dry January, then 70s in February, and 80s in March. Just gotta hope this lasts as long as possible before the torching inevitably returns.

Cascadia Chilly, Clark!

O the snow, the beautiful snow!
Filling the sky and the earth below!
Over the house-tops, over the street,
Over the heads of the people you meet,
Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Beautiful snow! it can do nothing wrong.

Right. The shoe doesn’t have to drop. A lot of people called for a cloudy cool early spring after one of the sunniest winters. Upcoming pattern doesn’t seem too bad. Alternating 2-4 day periods of dry and wet.

Smelled like burnt hair, but I only noticed it for about a minute or so right after takeoff. I remember thinking it was gonna be rather unpleasant if it stuck around for the whole flight. Apparently it was much worse at the back of the plane. Or excuse me, the AFT section.

Had quite an escort to the gate…

Pretty typical overall for this week given the break we have coming.   But SEA has had only 1 day with 0.00 in the last 25 days.    That is persistently wet and troughy.   I have a sense the other shoe will drop eventually and certain people will not like it.

From my perspective the weather has been fairly nice the last week or so.  We have had plenty of cloud breaks and bits of sun, even on days with rain. Starting to see much more color on the forest.  The alders are leafing out after dropping their tassels and the maples are about ready to blow up too.  I see my young birches and Japanese maples coming around nicely as well.  In the berry patch the Marion’s are branching out, the blueberries are leafing out, the new strawberries are thriving and the grapes are about to put on leaves for the year.  I’m happy with Spring so far this year.  I expected worse.

Nah.    Probably not until next fall and winter... if even then with ENSO neutral.    And precip totals aren't that indicative of persistence of rain.
