I think SEA will hit 100 atleast once or twice in the next 10 years. Which would be exceptional for SEA. Don’t think we beat 108 anytime soon though.

It could easily be decades before SEA challenges 108 again.

I think the PNW sees a big heat spike in late July or early August this year.  Maybe Seattle’s next shot at 100. 😈

O the snow, the beautiful snow!
Filling the sky and the earth below!
Over the house-tops, over the street,
Over the heads of the people you meet,
Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Beautiful snow! it can do nothing wrong.

I think that’s the least likely timeframe for ridging.

If mid-July is neutered, then mid/late August is the next subseasonal window primed for ridging.

Just had a black bear walk past me like less than 5 feet away.  I thought it was the persons dog out of the corner of my eye.  I screamed and it ran.  🫣

I was sitting in my truck with the door open. And it basically walked around the open door and looked at me.

Years that Seattle metro official sites have hit or exceeded 100.

SEA definitely gets a 1-2 degree bump just from UHI increase alone compared to decades past, but still difficult to get past that 97-98 mark with most air masses.

That's because Front Ranger always points out colder trends. Recently a ridge developed in the medium range, that wasn't so strong in the long range, but no one mentioned that except I think tt-sea.

I've just been pointing out the overall trends. Most of the big-time heat in the mid/long range for the PNW has gotten watered down so far this summer.

I was all over it when the almost-heatwave appeared and maintained in the models in early/mid June. And also pointed out when model consensus was reached about a week out for the couple of very warm days at the end of June.

Everything has been watered down on approach last few months it seems. Rain chances the most. Been a very climo temp and dry last few months.

At least the one big, consistently modeled rain event last month delivered.

Change of plans ended up with us on the boat.   So incredibly nice on Lake Sammamish.  Dead calm and feels hot.   Absolutely perfect 4th!

Wind is blowing pretty good here at home so there must be a stout NW wind at the lake house. At home making sure my dog doesn’t injure herself this evening. This will be the first 4th I have not been at the lake house for a least a few hours since I have been alive. Was going to pop over there this morning but then heard there was a bad wreck near there which had the road shut down so traffic would have been a nightmare.

Currently 71 inside and out!
Happy 4th!

Nothing like watching a baseball game on a nice summer day. We’re going to the Hillsboro Hops game tomorrow night down here. They’re going to have a fireworks show after the game. ⚾🎆 🎇

Wow.   It's been sunny on Lake Sammamish all day.   Crazy nnice.   So calm.    We have seen the mid level clouds to the south all day and never moved north.

Back to mostly sunny again with just thin clouds.   74 for a high at SEA and looks like 78 or 79 in Issaquah.

It was unusually calm on the lake.   Outside of boat traffic... the lake was absolutely flat which is pretty rare in the middle of the day.   That is more of an evening thing on Lake Sammamish.   It tends to get very calm during late afternoon and evening which is the opposite of other places which get evening wind on summer days.

Of course Cal goes 0-5 yesterday and ends the game with 2 runners in scoring position with a weak ground ball... and then he hit 2 homeruns today.   I am a Mariners curse.   I need to ignore them and maybe they will make the playoffs.

Here is what the ECMWF shows with that cloud shield today...

ecmwf-deterministic-nw-toa_brightness-1751587200-1751641200-1751684400-40.gif

Ironically we went camping in Leavenworth as I wanted to guarantee a sunny 4th, and it ends up sunnier at home. Still a very nice day here as we were just on the edge of the cloud shield.

Even at 7:30 its still in the low to mid 70s in a swath from south Seattle to Lake Sammamish.

BFI had a high of 76 today... and the stations around Issaquah were mostly in the upper 70s.   Its looks like it was much cooler to the north and the south.   We really hit the sweet spot.

ECMWF shows some scattered morning clouds until about 11-12 tomorrow around Seattle but not a solid shield.   Then totally sunny in the afternoon and all day Sunday.    Mid and high level clouds exit overnight.
