Went back to the February 2025 thread to start getting excited for  winter…We are only a month out now from legitimate snow chances! And big winds can happen anytime now. I’m pumped!

O the snow, the beautiful snow!
Filling the sky and the earth below!
Over the house-tops, over the street,
Over the heads of the people you meet,
Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Beautiful snow! it can do nothing wrong.

Fortunately, as we all know precip maps past day 5 are basically useless.

Hopefully not.

If I don't get snow this weekend, I will have the biggest emotional meltdown in forum history.  Even bigger than Jim's postings from last December's parade of ARs.  We need snow.

Yes. If the Euro, (which you referenced) and other models are wrong it could end up being wetter than advertised.  The overall consensus is a dryer than normal first half of the month.

You're really making me root for super heated tropical moisture to sweep over the Henry Lake Mountains and for you to spend your winter in the mid to upper 60s and heavy non convective rain.

SEA ended the water year 8th driest on recording dating back to 1945. 10” below average.

New water year is starting with some rain but drier weather is coming back.

Things can always turn quickly in late October.

I feel guilty continuing to irrigate but i'll need to run sprinklers up until first killing freeze or our scheduled sprinkler blow out date which is 10/31, whichever comes first

does a warm/dry october led to winter dud or is it a good sign?  asking for a friend

October 2022 was epically warm and dry and the following winter was my snowiest ever in the lowlands.

And I’m sure we will get an actual decent rain pattern before the month ends.

Feels like some late October jet extensions would be likely this year.

For your area, there doesn't appear to be any positive signal with a wet Octobers leading to snowier winters.

Very dry Octobers for the west side do have a correlation with less snowy winters in your area, but the caveat is most of those were Ninos and virtually no -ENSO like we have this year.
