If the spring is hot and dry then it's gonna be record-breakingly bad here, god help us if we have a strong east wind event in August...

Record hot March and April to melt all the remaining mountain snow. Followed by a wet May-June to cause additional forest growth, with record breaking heat in July to dry it all up, followed by some dry mountain t-storms in August and a massive East wind storm on Labor Day weekend about when a few inconsiderate campers don't put their fire out properly.

In a few years we’re probably gonna look back at summers 2019 and 2020 like we look back on 2010 and 2011 now.

Right when I took this picture my little mouser spotted something…Good job! I blurred out the graphic part for the sensitive eyes. He is so funny, the mice he catches and kills he always leaves them in this area of the grass. The moles he catches he leaves in a different spot!

So this was the first winter on record that SEA didn't score a single sub-40°F high?

I'm actually somewhat okay with high UV days. As much as I hate the sun, it's really actually moreso that I hate low sun angles and the sun being in my eyes/making everything look dirty. There comes a point around mid April where the sun starts getting high enough in the sky again to no longer be so annoying, and it becomes relatively enjoyable.

Truly nothing is worse than a day like today where all the vegetation is still totally dead, but it's bright/sunny with low sun angles still. Today's weather is legitimately my least favorite weather & seasonal condition that is possible in our climate. There's something deeply unsettling about a warm, blue sky day with long shadows and 0 greenery yet. I'm down for sunshine once the sun angles are higher and there's some plant life to green things up, but days like today just feel like everything is so dead, dirty, and gross. The sun emphasizes how barren everything is in a way that doesn't feel so depressing when it's overcast.

Usually at least a ridge does the job some time in November with dense fog. But couldn't even score that. Tim got his sunny days under every ridge.

1957-58 and 1991-92 were also 0-fers according to ACIS.

Seattle is sunnier than Singapore and Hilo. We get plenty of vitamin D. Summers are plenty sunny and winters the sun won't even give you vitamin D...you have to supplement at these latitudes. Lighter skin is also your bet here.

Pros of sun

- Vitamin D

Cons of sun

- Skin cancer

- Premature aging and dark spots

- Eye damage

- Heat illness, stroke, and exhaustion

- Skin irritation from sunscreen

......

Also you only need like 20-30 min of sun exposure a day max. Any more and you just start to hurt yourself. And that exposure is nearly useless in the winter months over here so any sunny day in November-March is an absolute waste. Such as today.

Looking at previous discussion.

Personally, I like it warm, and rainy. I don’t want very long periods of sunny weather.

My favorite climates are Köppen Af and Am. Warm, wet, not extremely sunny, no extreme heat and NO COLD. The tropical highland version of Cfb is also good. The high latitude west coast version is gross.
