I’m surprised Phil hasn’t chimed in yet about those sick palm trees.

So true.    I am filing a complaint now.   These look a little better... maintenance might be working their way around.

The Tanana Valley is definitely a big inversion magnet. I'd imagine being on the edge of a lot of the high pressure this winter helped build those deeper and more sustained subsidence inversions. It's also been a pretty snowy winter up there, with 38" on the ground right now, which will enhance those lower level cold pools just as it would for us.

So basically a lot of "fake cold" with warmth aloft, which ties in with Convergence Zone's post about record low NH 850mb cold coverage.

Although I'm sure there will be plenty of people holding up Fairbanks's cold winter as evidence that the arctic isn't warming.

Yesterday did wonders for my motivation and spirits, I’m done with this crapfest winter, let’s have a good nice stretch of sun and warmth.

This is where I’m at as well, few sunny runs were a nice mental health boost. Try again for snow next Nov, bring on Spring 🌤️

Seems like pool weather is all but guaranteed for us in Palm Springs in March based on the last 15 years... but I know we got lucky with the timing a few times.

We got pool weather when we were there last March. But it’s still pretty variable this time of year so we’ll see. Palm Springs seems a little more guaranteed. Where do you stay in Palm Springs?

My wife has an annual conference there so we usually stay at the Renaissance in Palm Desert which is where its hosted but then we have started using our Marriott/Westin timeshare to extend our stay in recent years.   We stayed at Westin Willow Ridge in Palm Desert last March when it reached 100 degrees during our trip.

It’s been basically pool weather all winter long here. Wore shorts half this winter.

We just need to fill the reservoirs and get some kind of snowpack before May or the fish and irrigators are going to suffer.

Yeah, hopefully we can build the snowpack over the next couple months.

Looking like mid March should be sunny and warm too. Cloudy, rainy and cool in the meantime

That has been in the works for years down here and I thought it had been approved…But nothing has changed so far and it’s so freaking annoying.

It will be really strange for Seattle to be an hour behind Vancouver in the winter.
