@Tom

Remember I posted that I was looking for the Oct 19 storm to cycle back at some point. I know this didn't originate as far south, but tonight's presentation sure reminded me of it.

This storm has certainly become a Beast of a storm for the GL's...looking at the live shots up in MQT, they just said that this storm could rival one back in 1977.  It looks like a scene out of the movie "Day After Tomorrow"!!!

You're so funny! Sure I saw 2-5" in your WWA. I've got one again too for .1" ice lol.

Doubt I'll get anywhere close to 2" being so far away from the lake with a NW and high winds.  Glad I didn't get the ice though.   What a terrible situation again.

I'm not convinced this turned into a "non event" for the LOT region...I just looked and Chicago's public schools are closed??  It appears a lot of late arrivals and closures are in play.

I spoke to my sister and she had no clue it was going to snow and from what she told me it looks like a couple inches fell and flash froze everything.

It's not always about the amount of snow...

I'm still in a  Winter Weather Advisory, but as I suspected earlier, they dropped the wording to 1" of snow.    No way we were every getting 2-5" out of this Lake effect/wrap around snow in my area.    Bring on Spring!

I've seen some videos of the Ice Storm up north in Northern Lower.  Absolute devastation in some areas.

I took ~90 measurements in a grid across my backyard and came up with 3.0", which seems about right considering the drifts and scoured areas.  The gauge caught 0.40", which means the ratio is terrible, as it always is when the wind is strong.  The kuchera map predicted a ratio well above 10.

This stuff was a major pain to clean up.  It's dense, with a layer of either wet snow (stuck to the shovel) or ice on the bottom.

Here in southern lower Michigan we lucked out of this big Ides of March storm. Heck we had much worse conditions last week with a couple rounds of thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail late on Tuesday. High winds on Friday. At the current time it is partly cloudy and the temperature is 33 there was a trace of snow earlier but that mostly has melted.

There’s “That 70s Show” again! Any pics you can share? My buddy will get some by snowshoes when it finally wraps up later. He said they were around 30” late morning and snowbound until the county clears their road. They live just off of US31 near Carp Lake.

The final tally at the NWS Green Bay Office is 26.1". That has surpassed the Blizzard of 2018 by almost 2 inches marking this weekends blizzard at the 2nd snowiest storm on record in Green Bay.

5 out of the 6 top events came in March or April

Looks like 1.3" at O'Hare (0.1" last night and 1.2" today).  General 1-2" in Chicago based on other reports.  Big time, I know.

Not only did the paved surfaces clear up since morning, but I even noticed more subtle melting on the grassy surfaces compared to this morning despite temps only being in the 20s.  Not sure if it's some ground warmth, the sun angle, or maybe a little bit of both.

Besides the 0.25” of ice came home to find the contractor cleaning up what looked like another 1” of backside LE Squall stuff.

Happy spring! (and to think last

week I was swinging clubs in short sleeves)

Backside winds with this one are taking the cake for this winter - easily 50+ and vis down to 100 ft or zilch due to snow blowing off the roof.  Could literally not see 50 ft out our back window a moment ago. Insane. Haven't seen this stuff since the 90's in Traverse

Looks like places in NMI hit 30" and the list of records broken/set will be quite long when all is said and done. Just watching some "global disaster" youtube channels featuring Blizzard Elsa and primarily with a focus on Michigan. Crazy strong storm for not being some kind of bomb cyclone.
