What does June look like?

Took the day off and weedeated, mowed, blew, and got the beast out of its winter slumber and changed the oil. Noticed a slight drip from the new oil filter so I went under to snug it up a little more and accidentally bumped my arm into the very hot header…That woke me up!
Great day!

Willamette valley seems to be kicking our butts in the thunderstorm department so far this year.

Some of us won in the snow department, so I don't mind for now. But we need to win just a little more to make up for the huge wins Portland had in 2017, 2018, 2021, 2023, 2024... Big totals (1-2 feet) instead of a slopfest.

Just hope we get some storms this summer even if not as much as further south.

I think if anything things are pretty even between Seattle and Portland for snow in recent years.

Everything’s still pretty green here but I’m probably going to have to start watering here in the next week or so. Last rain was 0.21” here on 4/22…and that’s the only meaningful rain we’ve had in the last 3 weeks with no significant rain on the horizon.

2023 was only the biggest bummer for me. Can't believe I got under a foot total from one of the best La Nina events we will probably ever see in a long time, while pretty much everyone else got whooped by massive snowstorms. It was like 9-10 inches total. SeaTac got 8. Barely above average. Ironically I almost got the same amount this winter.

I also remember getting extremely disappointed in 2018 where all the snow went south and north. Olympia/Tacoma did well in some of these years while we got almost nothing up here.

22-23 was great in the sense we had snow like every 2-3 weeks from late November into late February. Only problem was it was only 1-2 inches every time.

February 2018 was decent here…had about 3.5” over several days. December 2016 through February 2023 overall was pretty insane. My old location in Tacoma averaged roughly 12” of snow over 7 winters. Double the long term average.

It does seem between 2015-2023, SeaTac averaged an extra 1-2" than Portland. Portland Airport averaged 7.1" (compared to a usual 4") while SeaTac Airport averaged 8.4" (compared to a usual 6")

I guess I overestimated how much they got. But the airport always gets less too. I remember some freak snowstorms there in 2017/2023 there that these totals don't seem to show.

And I guess 2025 and 2026 got us more up here... So we're even here.

This is probably overdone, but all models are showing some wet snowfall early next week. Last time DEN had snow in May was 2022.
