I'm not a member but I do like to scroll through some of the subs. Sometimes I learn something interesting. I don't look at any other social media so I don't know how the level of outrage bait and "echo-chamberiness" compares to other platforms.

I mean it does have some useful info and it is helpful if you have specific questions but beyond that it isn’t that great

Why do posts on Reddit read as if they're all written by the same person? They have the exact same tone and even all make the exact same spelling and grammar mistakes.

My map is Temp departures. The other is % probability for above or below average. Both scales are listed on the maps. 

They definitely bust warm more often than cold.

They were too cold this Winter, Mountain West having +1F projections, and ending up +10F in some places

They actually bust cold more often because of conservative anomaly predictions, although it's usually a warm color.

You've been pointing out "busts" a lot when they have like 40-50% chance of it being above normal. A lot of those 3-4 week forecasts only span out to 33-50% probability. I'm saying they are conservative in that because they actually verify better than those probabilities.

The 2015 analog that was being bandied about earlier this month is looking shaky. That year turned very warm and dry in mid May (no rain that month after the 15th for SEA), and except for a very brief trough the beginning of the month, that pattern persisted all the way through June...and beyond, of course.

This month wasn’t too bad I guess. Kind of crazy how just a +1.1F anomaly is still the 12th warmest may on record still. Goes to show how much it’s warmed over the years. 
 

 June doesn’t look too bad to start either with some decent rain chances but I’m sure we will roast later in the month. We’re due for some type of a heatwave.

Looks like May should sneak inside the top 10 for PDX. Currently the 7th warmest May there. Also their 8th driest on record. So top 10 for both, a 2020s warm season staple!!! 

Though they (gasp) actually did have a decent cold anomaly today for once with that low of 44! That's -8 on the average and only 4 off the daily record!

Yeah, mainly I was just comparing the weather pattern compared to 2015 over the same period. Very different, and that looks to continue into the first 10 days at least of June.

Still a warm May, but not in the same ballpark most places as 2023, 2019, 2018, 1995, 1993, 1992, and 1958.

Pretty chilly for a sunny afternoon near the solstice.   Not a fan.

Side note... 405 and 520 were closed for construction coming back from Bellingham so we were forced through downtown Seattle and then onto I-90.   I can't remember seeing Seattle look so clean.   You can definitely tell they are cleaning up graffiti quickly as the World Cup games approach.   I wish it could be like this all the time.
