34 and frosty, would have been cool to finish off May with a freeze. Despite the cooler second half of the month, it looks like central OR ended up around +2-2.5 for May so still another warmer than average month.

They are ahead of schedule this year, usually they don’t heat up until sometime in summer.

6z GFS would be absurdly wet for this time of year. Not great for Tim or wildfire enthusiasts.

Yeah... there is nothing really warm in sight except for a little spike on Tuesday.   Be more appropriate for him to say enjoy the short warmth while it lasts.

7th warmest May on record there. Good chance that June and July perform similarly. Don't really even need a hot first two days to tell me that!

We just ignore the EPS now? It has been pretty locked in on a warm pattern after week 1 of June. Which is echoed by most seasonal predictions. After Tuesday looks like a week of wet/cool, which might be the last for a while if all other seasonal predictions with a raging El Niño play out.

Precip has been disappointing IMBY for months now. Storms either don't materialize or go south.

And I hope I am wrong on the rug pull. But current patterns plus it being the Goofus mean I can't take the above at face value.

1st week of June looks wet and cool across all models.

Weak sauce. June is getting into C-note season. But I’ll be generous and account for the fact that it will be early June and set the standards at mid/upper 90s. Which still makes a 90 or a 91 weak sauce.

Also feels like a good time for our monthly reminder that the last time PDX saw a cooler than average month in the May-September timeframe was May 2022.

Thus, May 2026 was the 20th consecutive warm season month that failed to touch the already warm 1991-2020 averages. Like May 2026, most of these didn't even come all that close to approaching said average.

Of those 20 months at PDX, 15 were also drier than the 1991-2020 average.

And its quick hitting warm spike before a big crash which is more like our old school climate.

One of the big problems with our place is that it’s on a brick foundation and the walls are thin. Even just the sun blasting down from a high angle makes it hot even if it’s cooler outside than in. Opening windows doesn’t help much. But the rent is manageable on disability. I just know that life would’ve been so much better if I hadn’t had such terrible epilepsy. It’s why I want snow so bad. I’m afraid that one day I…won’t wake up. My family and friends will feel the hole in the world that I will leave and I’ll have been powerless to control what is happening. This sucks. The reason I’m saying this is because I want people to know what it’s like for people. How a life on the path to being wealthy and stable to being disabled and a burden is like something out of a TV show.

Yall are heroes to me. Because y’all understand. You know that weather is a passion of mine and it always has been. I may have a shitt memory but the serenity I feel with snow falling makes me feel them less. Like when I watch college hoops and ballgames in general. Thank y’all for being so important to this world. You matter…always. 🙏🏻❄️

A few sprinkles late next week. Otherwise looks pretty dry and warm. No signs of a "wash out" in my opinion.

My son just texted me the forecast from his iPhone which showed 5 straight days of rain starting Wednesday and wanted to know if it was really going to play out like that.   Pretty misleading forecast.

One could posit that anything under 116 in June is now weak sauce. That's the beauty of our ever moving climate goal posts!

Reality is that most of us are just too close to the situation here. Really outside of Tim, I think we generally need at least 1200 miles distance from the region to be able to properly assess the reality of the weather in this area.

Abbotsford is at +3.6F but they are still using the 1981-2010 baseline.  So given the warming climate it is likely a few notches cooler on the departure.

Yea. Feels like more of a typical warm ups and cool downs pattern for the first 1/3 to 1/2 of June.  Which makes sense for my area considering how warm and dry the past 6 weeks have been.
