Just checked it... it's like low 80s and sunny for Portland and the Willamette Valley every day. Basically perfection.

Lol, yeah it really isn’t anything “epic” at the surface. I’d take it though. Maybe some light rain in western Washington and slightly below normal temps.

Euro and particularly the Gem have some light rain on the 3rd…not a whole lot but thankfully we get it out of the way before the 4th it looks like.

Seems like pretty good momentum for another trough is building in the 8th-11th period.

Nah Saturday looks pretty nice. Low-mid 70s and mostly sunny is about as good as you could write it up really. Looks like it could rain a bit overnight tomorrow into Friday but Friday looks decent in the afternoon.

Still waiting on a reply from someone knowledgeable about this subject. Is this mega Nino acting accordingly thus far and is NOAA right that this winter to expect it to not follow normal Nino guidelines?

Utqiagvik (Barrow) just set a daily record low of 24 on the 28th. It's their first record low temperature since 4/29/2020 and only their 2nd since 12/21/2007!

Not an expert, but I'd say it's too early to tell whether this Niño is "acting accordingly" since it's only just now beginning to form, and ENSO effects on weather patterns don't happen directly or immediately.

As for following normal guidelines, this Niño is in uncharted territory, so by definition there are no analogs on which to base any expectations. The resultant weather patterns may be like an ordinary Niño, only more so. Or they may be completely different. Who can say at this point?
