Sounds like there was at least 1 fatality in the Chelan Hills fire this past weekend. The first and hopefully the last this season in the region.

Seems like we are getting a Goldilocks pattern to lock in after one cloudy day Friday and maybe limited clearing on Saturday. Actually wondering if someone with access to the Euro cloud maps can tell me how much clearing we can expect on Fri and Sat. Got some hiking plans…

Limited east of 405 on Friday... but earlier clearing on Saturday as the low clouds quickly retreat to the northwest. Totally sunny on Sunday.

Ainslie, and so far, so good. The fires started near Boston Bar and North Bend, but wind has been pushing them further away. Firefighters are focussing their efforts on building firebreaks between the burn areas and the towns. The burn areas themselves will probably serve as fire breaks between the flame front and the towns should the wind shift. Plus, there are burn scars in the directions the fires are currently headed, meaning I expect the fires to decrease in intensity when they reach those areas. So overall, I am cautiously optimistic.

BTW, the Ainslie Creek Bridge has a maintenance catwalk below that is not locked off from public access. Fun times!

NIce! My brother really loved them and actually sponsored a show in Valdosta, Ga in the late 80's..maybe 1990-1991. He had to do it all, arrange the venue, ticket sales, publicity etc. He got to hang out with the band while they were in town, took them to the local radio station for an interview, etc. It was his senior year in college, after 10 years of trying to get his degree under immense family pressure, he wanted to do something fun for himself to celebrate. One of the highlights of his life.

oh wow, the infamous Armory show in Valdosta I bet. 4/8/89. I started seeing them in college in 93, they haven't played out here in 10 years so pretty stoked about it. they played Missoula the last 2 nights, but it immediately sold out when tickets went on sale. So we're going to Bend instead (larger venue) and Oakland next weekend

Stats for BC show pretty clearly that the May 1 to June 25th period in 2026 was very comparable to 2015. My statement that the patterns diverged in late June is very factual for much of southern BC. Temperatures were very similar. A bit wetter on the coast and drier in the interior this year.

Victoria:

2015: 15.3C. 6.6mm rain

2026: 15.5C. 26.1mm rain

Nanaimo:

2015: 16.1C 17.9mm rain

2026: 16.0C 28.6mm rain

Kamloops:

2015: 18.2C 87.7mm rain

2026: 18.1C 43.1mm rain

Been saying since spring...there's precedent. A bunch of super Nino summers were relatively cool or near average for the West coast.

Will also end up cooler than the first halves of July in 2018, 2017, 2015, 2014, 2013, and possibly 2012. Nothing crazy cold, just different than most recent summers.
