Just for a couple days before we flip back to onshore flow. Looks like a decent period of troughing. Maybe more thunderstorms and fire starts before the offshore flow and smoke fest begins in late August into September. Followed by a perma inversion with smog.

Long range forecast is looking great minus the two 80F degree days for Everett. But if the smoke does arrive due to offshore flow, it might keep us below 80F.  This low to mid 70s all summer have been wonderful here in Everett.  It has not been too hot yet.

The west of the Cascade's is a bastion of good air quality still compared to much of the country. Canada's wildfire smoke has blanketed the east.  The smoke in our region is thankfully high aloft and not really hitting ground level and none of the good models show it hitting us, but I am still concerned by the offshore flow later this week. Conditions did clear up in Spokane, but the NE corner is smokey. Eastern Oregon is looking pretty bad.

Those wildfires in Eastern Oregon are really producing a lot of smoke right now.  This is satellite image from around 2pm yesterday.

A lot of the smoke forecast early this week is coming from BC. The Oregon stuff will likely make it into the mix later on though as the offshore flow gets going. Won't last long though.
