The East's summers have definitely still warmed, but the lack of true top tier summer torching there since the 2010-12 trifecta is in very evident contrast to our situation.

It seems like it's very difficult for both coasts to simultaneously see exceptionally warm summers. Even the winter can do it more effectively if the Pac jet snorts some lines.

Offroading is very fun experience, but worst part after offroading is having to clean the car. My car is fully covered rn with sand, mud, and salt.

Going to a jack car wash. They do this for $14 only. Much cheaper if I take normal not a jack wash. But a hydraulic jack for lifting the car is necessary to clean the underside.

Warmth is certainly winning the battles in 2026. The NW has actually been relatively cool compared to other places in the world vs trend.

Nothing annoys me more than people going offroad without deflating their tyres. If you drive on soft sand or a salt flat with 35 psi tyre pressure, there's a 100% chance you will get stuck. Saw a bunch of car stuck in a salt flat.

Deflate to 15-18 psi then go offroad.

The US overall has been relatively cool the past couple months. June 2026 ranked 28th warmest. The previous couple of Junes were both in the top 10.

That -PNA in the north pacific is so consistent for Super El Nino! The last +PNA month was Jan 26

More beautiful weather and scenery east of the Cascades. Wife and I did Bellingham>Carson (via Yakima)>Wallowa Lake (via John Day through the Blue Mts)>Spokane>Colville (with a detour in Metaline Falls for some paddle boarding on Sullivan Lake). 

Headed home tomorrow via WA20 if I can contain myself lol. I have a habit of creating convoluted routes with the goal of eventually driving most of the major roads & highways in the northern third of WA. I love everything from Winthrop to Ione, seriously can't get enough of it. 

I completely agree with what SmokeLayerFan was saying earlier, there's something about the contrast between the wide open meadows and ponderosa forests east of the Cascades that really tickles me. Makes for some great views. Eastern WA/OR is such an underrated region in general.

I like Eastern WA and OR as well...super underrated. Photos never do it justice.

It was a very nice freshening up of things. Everything smells moist and coniferous. It’s a nice throwback to how summers used to be, lots of dry days interspersed with a few damp ones.

I’m sure there’s plenty of warm and dry days to come.
