Second fire report coming in around the Spokane area. This one is further east near Mead.

It really wouldn’t be surprising if that fire was intentionally set. During the Labor Day fires in 2020 something similar happened on 167 in sumner and I’m sure there’s other examples.
 

Don’t know why you’d want to do that but I guess people see “extreme fire danger” warnings on the news and take advantage…

Yeah, it's most certainly arson. Though some could be accidental starts. I think some of the fires going in Spokane are structural fires. But the vegetation ones are suspect.

This one is not looking great either. Exploded to 200 acres, and could cross the river where there are structures.

National guard called to Spokane for the fires there?

 

We know some people who are evacuating. My wife also has a friend near Tonasket under level 3 go no evacuation. Someone else posted about being under evacuation and they live in the Spokane city limits.

Woof, that Little Giant complex west of Lake Chelan is putting out a lot of smoke. I think the wind shift won't bring in cleaner air, but rather more smoke from up there. That's a drag.

We packed a go suitcase as a precaution. So far it's been relatively quiet in my county and the 3 bordering it with the exception of a fire in the Blues far from most places that has been going for a week or so without containment. I hope this post doesn't jinx it though.

Now a fourth fire is reported, near the Fairview fire. Spokane is seriously having issues today. These have to all be human starts...

According to Watch Duty, it started a mile southwest of the main fire (the direction of spread is northeast), and about to merge with it. So likely a new ignition.

73/61 here today with 0.05” of rain. Has been fairly breezy all day. Hoping for the best with the fires and smoke coming up. Small caveat would be we’re definitely getting into lower sun angles…

Just saw this. Mass evacuations are underway. Hopefully everyone can get out of there.

New fire in Grants Pass Oregon . I think it’s out now but did burn a house down.

In Minnesota for a family wedding.   Scary stuff around Spokane.   It was shockingly dry here when we arrived but after a significant soaking rain yesterday its better.  87 and sun today for the wedding... very nice day.
