Phil
Definitely seem to be taking the 2010/1988 route this year. Both 1st year La Niñas w/ +QBO @ 50mb following El Niños. 1988 was also preceded by a multiyear +ENSO/Niño, like this year. Both featured big league western cold in February. Difference is 2010 had potent early season -NAO/-PNA while 1988 was more zonal until late January/early February. Many other -ENSO/+QBO years were chilly out there during the 2nd half of winter, as well. At the very least, it’s hard to bet against a cold February west of the Rockies this year. 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=
