What’s the point of maintaining climate records at these locations?

That's sort of my main gripe. I feel like the rampant UHI at most of the major stations makes it a lot harder to tease out long term local climate trends. It effectively muddies the picture, especially considering the most UHI afflicted stations are often the most commonly tracked and referenced with regard to local climate.

We have had a couple years with sub 40 lows in late August. No blob those years.

I guess we all need to remember that the GFS was showing a massive ridge sitting right on top of us from about this point forward up until a few days ago. It has since incrementally moved toward the Euro.

What it is showing now would be pretty seasonable temperature wise with the ridge staying offshore. Some nice crisp fall days. Definitely not as exciting as the solutions on some other models though, which seem much more amplified/less progressive with the pattern in the GOA.

Garbage Forecasting System.

Though it did catch on to the coming cold wave the first of all the models last January.

It has its moments. I don’t think patterns like this are it’s wheelhouse though, due to its progressive bias.

Now I will say something haughty and condescending about people who look at long range models period.

It was laughably overaggressive with the level of digging and CAA, though.

Even when it's "right" it's wrong.

Wait PDX didn’t have single digit highs?!

Only made it down to 43F. Gonna have to go through the record books and see if EUG has ever failed to record a reading in the 30s in October.

Wow, Anthony.  That’s a name I haven’t seen in a long time on here. What was his location again and where is he hiding now?

I think he went to UW with Mallow.  No idea where he is now, but wherever he is the climate is warmer now than when he was a member here.

And he probably wishes it was MUCH warmer/colder/wetter/drier than it is right now.

I caved. For the first time since April, my heat has been turned on.

M'lady and I are still holding out. I'm like "We can make it to November, easy."

She hasn't expressed those same feelings. She has slowly but surely come around to enjoying colder and snowier weather over the years.

It's 63 in here. I'm happy with 65, but getting out of the shower at 63 is a titt nipply.
