I’m a senior in college so my last couple years are a little foggy.... i swear last year or the year before was one of the best in awhile....

Last year was great with a chilly and dry fall following a mild and wetter than average late summer.

I guess something on Jessie's pizza he doesn't like.  "There's something on that I don't like!" (Tree troll Tthrows pizza to reject pit and knocks the Zoombini to the machine as a final warning) Dang I gave Jesse the wrong pizza!  (Removes a topping and tries the other).

Edit: I forgot about the desserts on the side there!  Dumb me! Too bad there is no self slap on head smiley.

Just checked my latest NWS forecast and it says I should say buh-bye to the fifties for a while after Wednesday.

P.S. Also not much mention of the s-word in the forecast discussion. That the professionals are for the most part waving off the more extreme model runs at this point should say something.

So a colder fall is better for the pretty fall colors then long extended warmth?  Or is too cold bad as well? What kind of fall do you recommend for optimal fall colors? Technically I love colder falls but I DON'T KNOW if that's good for fall colors if I am screwing myself for liking colder falls.

Look at the records for the fall of 2008.  That one featured amazing color.  The best is sunny with cool nights and maybe even light frost in September, and then still some sunny days in October with a number of frosty nights.  I remember in 2003 we went from a torch to an Arctic outbreak in late October and the leaves turned black.  The only time I've ever seen that.

I've had that happen (on  this difficulty) getting the right topping then win with only one chance left! Literally you'd be sweating bullets!  This is after your Zoombini is thrown at the machine I know I'm screwed if I make another mistake.

It's pretty sad to forget about the desserts. The easy difficulty only has 5 topping choices and 1 tree to deal with. No desserts.

I think your given 5 or 6 chances. I'm not sure if the zoombini hitting the machine is count as a chance as the next fail your Zoombini is kicked off the screen and continues for several more before you can't continue.  The Zoombini reappears at the screen where you make one or at a base camp.  Note: When the Zoombini slams into the machine he makes a funny 'honk' kind of noise like a clown car. Sometimes being mean to the Zoombini's is funner then the game!

Is Zoombini doing a winter forecast this year?

They all got blown away at Allergic Cliffs sneezing them off the screen!  I have to be dumbed back to this difficulty!    (God I wish you could choose the  difficulty if its one  you already earned) Then if you haven't played in a while you can refresh  yourself in an actual journey instead of practice mode.

The ECMWF is actually going for a low of 31 for SEA on Oct 25 which would tie the 1954 record.  It would also be the earliest sub freezing min on record for SEA in ages.

In other news they did an update on the tornado several days back and concluded it was an EF-1.  It apparently snapped some trees that were 2.5 feet in diameter!

SEA hasn't seen a freeze in October since 2006.

There was actually a similar 14 year gap from 1956 to 1970. And then a 13 year one from 1971 to 1984.

GFS shows a few nights that are a little chillier than what we have now and that's about it.

The 6z EPS looks better than the 0z on the blocking and depth of the trough over the NW this weekend.  The block looks destined to last at least a little bit longer than the 0z suite of models had indicated.

A mild 54 this morning. I guess we're still making up for the decently cool nights all summer.

It's going to make the coming cold nights all the sweeter.

Widespread temps below freezing. PDX warmer probably due to east winds/UHI combo.

I'm thinking mostly UHI.  The gradients are advertised to mostly northerly with this.

New blog from Mark last night. He seems on board for a turn to sharply cooler weather this week.

https://fox12weather.wordpress.com

Also has a few graphics on how historically warm this meteorological fall has been so far. I was surprised to see that it’s been 2nd warmest even at climate change proof OLM.

Mostly cloudy and 54 currently, which is also the low for the morning so far.

Hopefully this is our last 50+ low for a little while.

Same conditions here. Soon I will probably be saying goodbye not only to 50+ lows, but 50+ highs as well!
