October 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Recommended Posts

It's going to be interesting to see how Saturday and Sunday nights play out for temperature.  Saturday night looks like it might have a hard time decoupling for some places.  Sunday night looks flat out perfect from a surface pressure perspective and the prospects have improved for it to remain clear all night.  Both have potential for record lows in places.  I still think we will be seeing a lot pf places drop into the mid 20s with some low 20s possible.

18z GFS was a bit better than 12z more along the lines of the EURO.

00z GFS in 17 minutes

850s were colder on the 18z than the last several runs.

Looking like a major storm for parts of eastern Washington with 6 inches of snow predicted for many places. We are heading to the cabin tomorrow after work to watch it snow. Really looking forward to the cold north wind!

A major snowstorm in October is nothing to sneeze at. This looks downright historic. Stay safe.

Still not seeing any snowflakes on my weather apps.

Probably seeing lots of sun symbols though.   The GFS is dry for the rest of the month after the system on Friday.

850s on the 0z GFS bottom out at -5 which is exceptional for a continental airmass this time of year.  That compares to -3.5 on this morning's 6z run.  Like the trend!
