Still snowing here.  Almost 2 inches.

Here is todays EPS.  Looks active in the long run, could even be a pineapple express setting up later in the period?

Thank you for this very informative look at the EPS.

Still only 41 here after a low of 33.  .25" in the bucket, 6.30" for the month and 51.07" for the year.

I need to take down my weather station and look it over. It no longer reads the light index and the temp stops reading from dusk to dawn. I think the battery might be done, it also has a solar cell on it so I think it’s only transmitting when light hits the cell.  I felt naked and afraid all evening and night without my station working! I put it up the night before the winter madness began in early February 2019 and has been trouble free until now so I’m hoping it’s just the battery.

Here is the 850mb temp map for the entire EPS run... obviously warm can also mean wet at this time of year.

Yes, and the total precip anomalies go from below normal to above normal at least for Washington and BC by the end of the run.   Not so much for Oregon, but not totally dry either.  Of course the placement isn't that reliable in that range, but to go from below to above normal for week 2 must mean a lot of rain.  And at least normal temps toward the end of the run.

And here is the 300hpa wind map.

Thank you. I appreciate this.

I value your input quite a bit too, maybe more than I have let on. It seems like we both share a love of outdoors and nature in conjunction with the weather which I always really appreciate. You post some great pics.

You are also very balanced in your preferences, and seem capable of enjoying both rain and sun. You don't really complain about either too much no matter how much we have seen one more than the other in the short term, which is something that is so nice to see for a change. That kind of sentiment is very welcome here, a breath of fresh air so to speak.

Thank you as well. I really do appreciate all your outdoor/weather info as well. I’ve really learned a lot...pretty much everything I know about PNW climate and weather info from you and everyone on here the last couple years. Really hope we can take the good parts of what this online community has and also add in new faces and input from others in the future.

Just had first noticeable wind gusts out of the north.  It's been 39 most of the morning, but has popped up to 41 in the last hour or so.  0.24" in the rain bucket so far.  I had originally planned on venturing up towards Baker to find the snow today, but my son has turned up with Covid and its hitting him pretty hard.....feeling like I should stick close to home (and in cell phone range) today.

I'm sorry to hear he is not well. I hope he gets well soon!

You have an Ambient weather set up right?  If so, you should be able to get the battery health through your station webpage.  And yes, it has a solar panel to extend the life of the AA batteries.  I usually replace my batteries every summer as a "PM" item, but I guess it ultimately depends on how easy it is to access your station.  Also, I use Energizer ultimate lithium batteries, which are supposed to hold up better in the winter.

Yes it is an Ambient! It’s a bit of a pain to get to where I have it mounted so I have stalled with taking it down to look it over. Thanks for the info! I will get up there this weekend and bring it down.

I have had the same thing happen with my Davis setup.  The backup battery goes dead and the solar battery can't keep up without it.  Hopefully it's fine.

Warmest official station I can see is 64 in Redmond.

They hit 65 this afternoon. Very warm for late October. Looks like Eugene hit 63, above average AS WELL. Very mild day across most of Oregon. WOW, 70 in MEDFORD!
