Octobers that start out really warm have often featured a pretty dramatic pattern reversal at some point. 2003, 1996, 1991, 1984, 1971, and 1970 to name a few. It seems the more dynamic October cold airmasses are often marked by that.

I think 1935 torched really hard before the crash.  1936 had a notable cold snap after a torchy October that began right at the end of the month and went into November.

39 here now.  Just a perfectly steady drop here so far.  Given how low the DP is I would have expected a fast crash and then a bit of leveling out.  I see a number of places are already well down in the 30s.

Down to a cool 37 after a balmy high of 51.

The 51 is probably several degrees below normal.

Just dropped a full degree in a couple of minutes.  We're going for the big stuff tonight.  Does anyone know right off hand how long it's been since SEA dropped to freezing this early.  That is something I should know, but I don't.

Yep. They also seem to come in bunches like that. As do the stupidly warm ones (2015/2014, 1988/1987).

Still not impressive.

Much of the NW is having historic cold for this early.  Sorry you don't believe it.  You might have missed the impressive stat that Portland put up today and a myriad of others that have happened or will happen tonight.

I don't live there or the other places, pretty sure I have made that point clear over the years on this forum.  IMBY, WA is the only location that matters.

Still a good breeze from the looks of swaying branches. 37

The models were showing the gradients down there would die after 6z (whatever time that is....mid evening sometime).  Up here they have already crashed.

I have to say. Even I am impressed. We will see what happens with lows tonight, but PDX only hitting 48 under full sunshine on October 25th is pretty amazing.

Yeah most W. Oregon stations still seem pretty breezy. The cold potential appears to be significantly better in western Oregon though. Dewpoint should are well into the teens most spots. About 10-15 degrees lower than most spots in W Washington.
