October 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Recommended Posts

Looks like I made my goal of 30 by midnight.  That gives me a nice 48 / 30 for the day.  -10 departure from normal.  Some places are just downright insane tonight though.  Colder than I expected in a lot of cases.

Enumclaw now down to 26.  Within 1 degree of an all time low for this early in the season according to the Buckley records.  SEA is now at 37 which puts it well within reach of their earliest freeze in decades.

Why is it 35 and raining here?

Did not expect that this morning.    It was supposed to be clear.

That’s what I thought too.

This article freaked me out. I don't know enough about this stuff to understand completely but it doesn't sound good at all. The possibility that we could have a colder winter is great but I don't know.....it's a real roller coaster of an article.

Oh, and it's 29 here in McMinnville right now. Feels like the middle of winter!

34 here in the swamp

not sure what the low was but expected colder temps

looking over the comments it looks like clouds and drizzle moved in from out of nowhere

I wouldn't say out of nowhere, there was a developing vortmax (on the backside of the trough nearing the four corners) to the north of Williams Lake that moved due south overnight, which led to some snow/sleet/ice pellets to fall through a very shallow cold pool just above the surface.

Looks like we've had a dusting of snow overnight, the car windshields have a layer of slush on them this morning.  Currently 33 after getting down to 29.

Had some sleet here. Guessing that’s what you’re seeing evidence of.

It's called clown range for a reason.
