Nice to see a lot less energy going offshore. ICON also took a much more favorable shift tonight as well.

Solidly cold GFS run tonight.  The pattern evolves a lot more favorably to deliver a Canadian cold front.

We actually had 10 kids show up tonight.   Highly surprising considering last year had none.  I think people are ready to be done with COVID.

We had 20 plus show up, less than last year but higher than the 7 year average.

Amazing how that GOA ridge keeps reinventing itself in the longer range.  Maybe that will be a semi permanent feature this winter.

Yeah Jim... pretty sure people were ready to be done with COVID last March.   But unfortunately it does not appear to be done with us... as people who work in hospitals across the country can tell you.   I have 3 relatives who work in hospitals in Wisconsin and it is bad there.    Keep medical professionals in mind when implying we can just move on and pretend nothing is happening.

Already down to 41 tonight.  If it stays calm all night it should easily drop to freezing here.  Sometimes these nights where we go through a northerly to easterly gradient transition we can do quite well on lows.

Kind of a slightly off topic post here.  Last year we got a new cat and we later found out she is a Maine Coon.  Over the last couple of weeks her coat has puffed out to where it looks she could weather a winter on the North Pole!  Probably just because of the kind of cat she is, but maybe we will see a winter to put that coat to the test.

I've got a tuxedo with a thick coat as well. She's super friendly and loves attention, even from my dog, who despite playing quite rough, has yet to strike any sort of fear into my cats innocent little heart.

It's the best when you cup her in your arms on her back. I call her a living pillow, though I don't think she's partial to letting me rest her head on her back 😆

My smooth coated Border Collie is currently chilly so she is snuggled up with me...Must mean winter is going to be massively cold!
Or she is just laying next to me hoping that I might share my gelato...

39 degrees now.  We have arrived at the time of year where it can freeze at night without a cold air mass in place.
