Here's the snow thus far

By far the most impressive October storm I've witnessed here since 2012 when I bought property. Ended up with 9 inches of powder and is currently 22 degrees down from 24 at 9am.

Just catching up to everything this morning. I think given that the user base of the forum has been somewhat of a close knit community for 15+ years, there is a bit of leeway given when it comes to be

Only hit 35 this morning as clouds moved in a couple hours ago. There’s some stuff on radar moving south interested to see what it falls as if it makes it...saw it was falling as a wintry mix up north.

Why is it 35 and raining here?

Did not expect that this morning.    It was supposed to be clear.

This article freaked me out. I don't know enough about this stuff to understand completely but it doesn't sound good at all. The possibility that we could have a colder winter is great but I don't know.....it's a real roller coaster of an article.

https://www.severe-weather.eu/news/arctic-ocean-sea-ice-2020-jet-stream-effect-winter-fa/

Oh, and it's 29 here in McMinnville right now. Feels like the middle of winter!

Low of 27 here. Pretty impressive. Scattered clouds have moved in now and the temp is up to 31.

The 29 at PDX is a good one. Probably their earliest low in the 20s in many years.

34 here in the swamp

not sure what the low was but expected colder temps

looking over the comments it looks like clouds and drizzle moved in from out of nowhere

I wouldn't say out of nowhere, there was a developing vortmax (on the backside of the trough nearing the four corners) to the north of Williams Lake that moved due south overnight, which led to some snow/sleet/ice pellets to fall through a very shallow cold pool just above the surface.

Looks like we've had a dusting of snow overnight, the car windshields have a layer of slush on them this morning.  Currently 33 after getting down to 29.

Had some sleet here. Guessing that’s what you’re seeing evidence of.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Mostly cloudy and 34 here at sunrise. Not even any frost.

You never would have known it was crystal clear and in the mid to upper 20s here just four hours ago.

Well like others have said...Where the heck did this moisture come from? I was up at 3am and it was 29 and clear. Get up again and see a wet deck to my shock at 5:30am with a temp of 34. Currently 33 and cloudy. And I spotted frozen precip on my roof.
.01” on the day.

Eugene hit 23 on one of their 5 min obs. That would be a record.

Looks like Salem only hit 27 and missed theirs by 1, but we will see at 11 what their official low was. 26 is the number they needed.

It has been mentioned, but the 29 at PDX beats their old daily record low of 30, set in 1963.

Also their earliest 20s in goodness knows how long.

Kind of disappointed the clouds didn’t roll in a few hours later so we could have fully maximized cooling. 35 is still pretty cold but we could have probably hit upper 20s to around 30 with clear skies this morning.

Either way it was interesting to see the precipitation move in this morning we were pretty close to having a few flakes this morning. Up to 39 now...this is our 4th low in the 30s this month.

Good thing I didn’t look at the radar at 3am while I was checking the temperature.  I would of been wide awake tracking that pretty blue color!

Since that lawyer from Hockinson (whom shall not be named) changed his avatar from Richard SImmons to the Blackhawks logo back in 1956 the whole region from CYVR to KMAX has failed to score as a whole,

So let's see if this weird "juju" works, and GO!
