Here's the snow thus far

By far the most impressive October storm I've witnessed here since 2012 when I bought property. Ended up with 9 inches of powder and is currently 22 degrees down from 24 at 9am.

Just catching up to everything this morning. I think given that the user base of the forum has been somewhat of a close knit community for 15+ years, there is a bit of leeway given when it comes to be

Impressive, but she couldn't even be bothered to go outside to take the pic?

Had some sleet here. Guessing that’s what you’re seeing evidence of.

I think it was mainly snow at my house.  I was going through my security footage this morning (we are having problems with car prowlers) and for the most part it appears to be snow (there was definitely sleet at times).

I wouldn't say out of nowhere, there was a developing vortmax (on the backside of the trough nearing the four corners) to the north of Williams Lake that moved due south overnight, which led to some snow/sleet/ice pellets to fall through a very shallow cold pool just above the surface.

Yes.  But Tim said it wasn't gonna happen.

Models did not show measureable precip... or even clouds until after dawn.

But these weak warm front situations are notorious for wringing out any moisture available.

Good lord. How did this one start? Downed lines? I know the canyons and ridge tops had gusts 74-98 mph. Be safe my friend!

I heard the Chinese and Russians are using new laser guns to start fires in California.

Is it possible they have some new laser gun that can do this?

SEA just went up a degree to 49.   Low clouds flooding into western WA.   Not going to be cold tonight up here.

Mileage?   One comment?  I would rather not have the low clouds but they are here now.

Fascinating looking back at all of Cliff Mass’s blog from December 2008. Crazy how the models kept insisting that things would dry out and stay cold even as we were into the first few days of it, but the moisture just kept coming and coming at least up here, think I had winter storm warnings going every day to every other day during those few weeks...Oh the memories.

I just can’t see the fun in reading about a snow and cold event from the perspective of a guy who hates snow and cold.

Down to 39 here. Looking forward to a frosty morning. Even though last night got cold, we missed out on morning frost since the air was so dry, then mid level clouds moved in before sunrise.

I think it was 08 or maybe 12 when it turned to freezing rain and we had 0.5-.75 inch of ice on top of the snow. We didn't have power for almost a week. I much rather have it stay snow this time.

I looked at that last week.  From November until the first sign of a change to could weather, he was talking about how the ski areas should be worried, and that there was no end in sight to the warm and dry weather.

And I remember a lot of panicking and "winter cancel" posts on this board.
