October 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Had the hot air balloon ride last night. Was over the the Auburn/Enumclaw area, east of Lake Tapps. Was a little hazy from the smoke not bad tho. Got up to 2,000 feet at one point but really hung around  175-400 feet in the air. Pilot kept us low and we had to keep rising at times to avoid hitting tree's and power lines.

Here's the snow thus far

Sorry guys I ended up getting chased around the outside of the building at work by a whacked out homeless guy on drugs...That was a first! I was mostly worried about the snot coming out of his nose as

Just catching up to everything this morning. I think given that the user base of the forum has been somewhat of a close knit community for 15+ years, there is a bit of leeway given when it comes to be

This is the link somebody requested for Seattle 850s.  I'm having real trouble posting right now so hopefully this works.  https://www.wetterzentrale.de/en/show_diagrams.php?model=gfs&var=2&geoid=136221&lid=ENS&bw=

Thanks!  There is still another one that looks like this.  For some reason the site I was using (Charlie's Weather) was stuck on 9/23.  I have tried going to the Wetterzentrale site, but can't find this version for some reason.

Decided to go over to our lake house and get my jetski out of the water for the season. Was just me and a few fishermen out on the lake, the low clouds/fog never did burn off. Tomorrow will be winterizing day for the toys.

Pretty gross day near the Sound.   We are planning to take the boat out on Tuesday... ECMWF shows sunny skies everywhere that day.

Should be a perfect day for it! If my work week wasn’t looking so busy I would have taken the boat out and hit the water one more time...But it’s not to be. ☹️

3 days into the month and still at 0.00?

After a significantly wet September too... and I would bet October ends up wetter than normal as well.

My wife and kids just got home a bit ago, my 6yr old went to one of her friends outdoor B-Day party on the Centennial trial Northeast of Arlington...Apparently it was sunny and in the 70’s there today.

Sunny and warm all day... but the last frames of the visible loop show the low clouds pushing east quickly.   Should make for a mild night and hopefully enough cool air aloft tomorrow for high cloud bases and some sun breaks.

62/51 here today.  We did break out of the fog mid-day and when I was outside mowing the lawn at about 3m I could see the edge of the fog about 1/2 mile to our west.  Turned out to be a nice crisp day.  I'm hoping its not too stormy (or foggy) next weekend, I would love to get a kayak camping trip in.

Football and kids weekend for this guy. Plus monotonous conditions (at least in the Willamette Valley) for now are causing some of it too.

Hawks game at 10AM tomorrow also so posts about the morning runs will be scant as well more than likely.

0.00 here for the month.   There are clouds this morning but its not foggy and its dry.   Strange that SEA is still in the pea soup fog with drizzle despite the cloud tops lifting.   SEA has been in thick fog for over 24 hours straight now.

I sense a relatively dynamic set up is near with some chilly snaps and coolish over-night lows.

It's going to be impressive for this time of year.  Maybe even some frost on the pumpkin?

It’d be hard to be more impressive than last October’s cold. Now THAT was actually impressive for that this time of year. I’d never had a low below 34 before October 2019...ended up with 5 freezes that month including a impressively early freeze on October 10th.

Nice that you’ve gotten some sunny summer like weather up there this week. Just interesting how a bit of elevation has made a huge difference in how the weathers been the last few days.

Early start to the inversion season.   Of course a mid-winter inversion can result in mid 30s and fog in Seattle and 60s and sun in the mountains at the same time.
