OAX is going 1-3 for the Omaha metro. Higher to the Northeast. Which is odd because the model trends start NW to SW but switch to West/SW to East

They issued a WWA (4-6") for Northeast NE. I'm kind of surprised they didn't issue a watch for that area, especially since moderate winds are expected. I'm guessing they're waiting until tomorrow morning's package to pull the trigger on any headlines down to I-80. I would think 2-4" would be a reasonable forecast for I-80 from them at this point but idk.

Was really feeling 3-6 but reality is probably 2-4. Oh well can't complain about October snow :)

00z Euro/EPS...@CentralNeb, after what has been a grueling summer for you (and prob the rest of our NE members), I'm pretty sure you were dreaming of this outcome back in July/Aug!  I remember the days you mentioned on here how stifling the humidity and heat were this past summer.  Mother Nature is sure to deliver some Winter wx for your back yard.

Our KC members have a real good chance to make history with this storm system and make it 3 Octobers in a row with measurable snow.  Let's do it!  #SolarMin

Love seeing all that snow in the CO Rockies which can't come soon enough and put out those historic wild fires.  It's so sad what has transpired out west and the devastation it has caused.

Thanks Tom. Been a long summer and fall with little to no moisture. This should be a good start to our deficit. Record breaking cold also. Coldest maximum and minimum temps look certain early next week.

On the cold snap side of things, OAX is already forecasting 11 for Lincoln on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Monday record (26th) is only 19, but 27th is 8 in 1997. This is following that record snowstorm, radiational cooling later on likely tanked temps. If KLNK can get that clear sky-calm wind combo with a few inches of snow cover, temps will drop like a rock even if it's 10 degrees warmer downtown.  Monthly record is 3 from Oct 30 1925. Clouds may be stubborn to move out though, so we'll see.

Euro has rolled out, OMA/LNK kind of ends up in between the bands, but not a bad look overall at this time frame. Lincoln fares slightly better with the secondary banding though. Kuchera is prettier of course, but it has widespread 10-20" from the the Sand Hills to the panhandle, so yeah not realistic lol. About the same for Clinton, so I'm guessing more marginal temps. Side note: Sorry Liz Whalley, but **** Ohio State.

Also important note that NAM is still much less generous south of I-80 unlike Euro/GFS. Can't ignore that so we have see if it changes it's tune later on today. Sorry for quadruple posting, but it's crickets here lmao. I guess it's game day in B1G land, but its a depressing away game for me and I work in 2 hours, so no tailgating for me.

I am about 20 miles north of that rain snow line really hope the GFS can verify.  Trying to remind myself it's only Oct and not get disappointed if I end up on the wrong side.

Lots of people in the KC area are going to be caught of guard, our NWS office has been asleep at the wheel all week on this storm. Here is there forecast as of this morning.

Hey, but now they upped it to 1-2 inches!  Yeahhh, this is my first year down here and I'm not impressed with the KC NWS. They seemed to have really good write ups during the summer and now this discussion today was as vanilla as it gets. Probably not real winter weather enthusiasts I take it. Totals will likely be double what they've put out today
