Do you remember what year that would've been? Sounds like a real good time. The Atlanta shows from May 77 are some of my favorites.

We hit 89-90 (after I got my license summer of '88).  I also went in '88 with my brother (he went to tons of shows, he always made it to the Hampton, VA shows for whatever the reason that were his favorite).  My brother had hundreds of bootlegs, and I had 100-150 through him (they got destroyed by a burst water heater).

He had 3 good friends who owned a stereo store. 1 would mind the store, the other 2 would follow the Dead and record the shows (they would rotate through the year).  They obviously had top of the line recording equipment, plus they were often able to plug into the soundboard.  Through bootleg trading they had recordings going all the way back to the beginning.  My brother would drop off a brick of blank Maxell XLII blanks and a few weeks later swing back by and pick up a bunch of bootlegs (he would give them a "toke"n of his appreciation of course).  My brother was a serious audiophile and got the "friend's and family discount" from these guys.  By the time he passed away his home audio system had a retail value in excess of $10k....I think he had $5k in amps alone.

'77 in Atlanta, that would have probably been in the Fox theater....that would have had awesome acoustics.

More of an offshore storm right now. But it wouldn't take much of a shift in the trough position to make it a regional event, the classic type with a strong low paralleling the coastline e.g. 1995, 1981, 1962.

Watching the constant flashing of the transformers tripping lighting up the loud dark night in 1995 was very memorable.

Rain clouds flashing angrily on my weather station currently.
Windy and 42 degrees. .02” so far on the day.

Not much wind here, but looks like a very strong rain shadow signature to the south of here. It's absolutely pouring here now and has been the past few hours, up to 0.5" so far.

Man that's awesome! Your brother sounds like he was a really interesting dude. Those were the years my dad was seeing shows, I believe he hit the Alpine run in '89. Sadly I missed the party, born in '97. I got to see some post-Jerry iterations of the band and Dead and Co though. I just listen to a whole lot of bootlegs haha.
