November 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Looks like we made it down to 29F last night. EC shows peak heating being like 47F or so but the GFS shows us right at 50F. Still might pull off a sub-50F high but we are currently at 46F.

At 11:40 SLE was only up to 37. We'll see how much longer we can keep the fog. It is definitely beginning to lift.

Low temp 33.1, currently 52.5 with sunny skies. A VERY nice fall day!

Both 12z GEFS, CMCE ensembles show a big inversion pattern coming and the Canadian develops a strong cold pool with high temps below freezing for the Columbia Basin. As I said last night, I think we're going to see an inversion/cold pool regime which progresses into retrogression somewhere around the 8th-10th. C'MON!!!!

He said he was 7 miles from the road, and far from any trails, and was amazed to come across anyone else.  He’s honestly shocked there haven’t been any accidental shootings out there.

Sounds like a bad situation.  Why on Earth would people not wear orange out there?  Probably a sign people are getting desperate to be able to do something with all of these restrictions.  Seems like a lot of politicians are blind to the unintended consequences of their actions.  People are suffering out there due to the decrees that are supposed to be helping.

Same old gloom up here.  I guess it's the price we are paying for not being in a drought like you guys are.  I would love to see it clear out so we can get some frost.

Props on teaching them proper firearm safety techniques. So important in today's world, especially with lots of people trying to get to remote areas with fresh air.

Still foggy in Salem and 37. Upper 40s at EUG and PDX. Weird to see it just stuck here in the Central Valley and not the south valley./

It was clear above about 300-400' in elevation coming down the hill this morning. With such a shallow layer of fog I expected it would have cleared out by late morning. I'm thinking we will see some sunbreaks between 2-3p.

I just got a new outdoor analog thermometer as my old one crapped out. So, I'll finally be able to post obs from my location again. I've found that the cheapo wireless digital weather stations are garbage. Maybe you can continue your winning streak on the Oregon sportsbook and get a nice one this winter.

Well most synths are virtual nowadays. VSTs. I’m into making music on the PC and own a few programs if you ever have a question about that. 
 

Although you may just be interested in the old school legit synths. But those take up real space in your house and can be very expensive.

Did you get one of the mercury filled recording thermometers?  That's what I have always used for my "official" records.  The electronic rain gauges are what you really need to watch out for accuracy wise.  They usually get way off as they get older.  Nothing beats an old fashioned 3 piece plastic gauge with hundredth inch graduations for recording rainfall.

I'm getting kind of bummed at our inability to clear out here.  Missing out on some good low temps.  I'm impressed how fast Eugene went into full inversion mode.  The vis sat pic shows the fog is probably not going anywhere there today.

No. I really wanted to find one, but my google searches for "Mercury Thermometers" only turned up mercury free thermometers.

The bad news is that I tried to come up with some sort of offset calibration by emerging it in very icy water for 30 minutes to find out what it read. It only got down to 34, so that is a bad sign.

BTW, if you can link me to one for sale, that would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah like a good KORG or Nord Lead 4. VSTs are good. I don't have the best sound card but I wonder if I could find a decent MIDI keyboard?
