I suppose December can still be a snowy one if it starts towards middle of the month. In 2012 my first 1+ inch of snowfall was 12/15, ended up with 18" over the following two weeks. In 2015 the first 10 days of Dec had no measurable snow, and ended with 33.1" that month.

But it is pretty common to have snows in the first week or two here.

I hope it's not too strange that my decorations were up before Halloween. ;)

I would have had mine up weeks ago but too many of my lights decided not to work this year. Still deciding on what type to buy this time around.

I cut the grass and raked more leaves today.  If it does snow, it has a clean slate to stick to.

I'd prefer three or four weeks of weather just like today though.  D**n it's beautiful.

Gonna drink a beer or three and smoke one down.  Ahhhhhhhh!

Whenever I say I'm going to drink a beer it ends up being 15 lmao

Debatable.

Regardless... I sort find it claustrophobic.   Its one of my least favorite weather conditions... particularly when it locks in for long periods.

But that is just my opinion.  I fully realize some people absolutely love it and are laser-focused on temp stats and that is extremely important to them.     Different strokes.    Nature's gonna do what nature's gonna do!

Poor air quality is bad in the summer but if it comes with cold fog during the winter it becomes a good thing. 💨 🥶

I grew up with it. It kind of typified the dark dank of Oregon winter. We don’t get much fog up here.

Those are Oregon white oaks. They are actually native to western Oregon and Washington. Areas of oak savannah used to extend up the Willamette Valley all the way to the southern Puget sound. There is even a west side sub-species of ponderosa pine that is adapted to this environment (drier, shadowed areas west of the Cascades). I think it is found all the way up to the Fort Lewis area, which has actually managed to preserve some large swaths of native prairie by nature of being a military reservation.

A little late to the conversation, but I wanted to mention that two of Tacoma's parks, Oak Tree Park and Wapato Hills Park, have nice groves of the Oregon white or Garry Oak.  They are a protected species and grow in what is considered a critical area for zoning purposes.
