I was and still am...fully onboard! I’m heading to Brennan’s illegal cabin in the woods shortly to enjoy the Siberian Express February 1989 style!
Currently 50 degrees and partly cloudy. Lovely day!

That was a poor decision posting that cabin online.

Only 40 here at 2pm. Chilly day sun broke out at noon but hasn’t warmed up very fast still.

Looks like we peaked at 55... don't expect it to cool down too much this evening with the east wind picking up ahead of the incoming front.

Im surprised it’s only 40 here with full sunshine. Figured we would get atleast into the mid to upper 40s once we broke out of the fog. We should get a decent view of the moonrise tonight despite the front coming in and a good sunset hopefully if the clouds can hold off a few more hours. Sunsets at 4:22 now really early this time of year hoping to get some good photos tonight.

Really interesting temp spreads today. Lots of places around Seattle, Olympia, Tacoma, Auburn and Kent are in the upper 30s to low 40s. Close to the foothills is in the mid 50s.

Sun finally came out. First mostly foggy day of the season up here. We can be socked in all day in a strong inversion like January 2013. Inversion season is about November 20-January 20 up here.

When I stop and think about how much I’ve spent over the years on putting obnoxious lights my house for a month I start to feel like a real schmuck.

Money that could have been spent on helping Trump with his election litigation or ending climate change.

Just want some opinions here... Out of these two choices, where would be the best place for snow:

600' in the typical PSCZ region (roughly Lynwood/South Everett east to Monroe), or 800'+ in the highlands stretching from Bellevue to North Bend? The highlands often miss out on the PSCZ, but when they do get snow it's usually much more than the rest of the lowlands, barring arctic fronts that stall out near Everett.

Asking for...a friend...

My place 01/16/2020. 13" depth. In that week from Jan 9-16 about 18" fell. I think 6" fell on the 16th.

Interesting what a dud the next month was. I didn't see one flake in February. And it rained one night.

Sometimes parking lot piles of butt snow are the only tangible evidence we have left of many magical, sleepless model-riding and radar-dissecting nights.

Melts have gotten crazier than that.

One day my brother was coming to visit, we had 6.6" fall on the morning of 02/07/2017, he came off Amtrak at 10pm, didn't believe me when I said we had half a foot of snow. There was maybe an inch in spots of the yard.

I just now have had time to look at 12z runs, ensembles and the 18z as well. Nothing exciting popping up in that 'believable' time frame. What I do see is if we want that first cold shot(warning shot?) we need a ridge merger at Day 8.5 to 9.5 with an evolving block tucked in behind the shortwave over southern Alaska. Looking at the ensembles I see a ton of outstanding potential ahead beginning in 9-10 days continuing for the foreseeable future. C'MON!!!!

SEA did pretty well today with a chilly 45 / 31 spread.  It's amazing how bad the models are at handling inversions.  The ECMWF was going for 52 there today.  Pretty obvious the high temps this week will be colder than the models are stating.
