November 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

50/40 0.29” today. November at 6.97” and 37.35” for the year. Should add atleast a couple more inches in December...better than 2019 (31.32”) and 2018 (30.70”).

The ECMWF weeklies are holding firm on some interesting weather around the Holidays.  The ensemble average snowfall for SEA between Dec 10 and Jan 10 is a little over 6 inches.  

In the shorter range the GFS seems really convinced it's going to get chilly in the Dec 10 to Dec 15 period.  The 18z ensemble had 4 or 5 members go down to -10 or lower on the 850s.

Pretty classic fast hitting cold front today.  We went from clear and calm, to cloudy with rain, to strong winds and partly cloudy, and back to clear and calm in 18 hours.  Ended up with .30 here.  Looks like a good shot to drop to 32 by midnight.  So far 48 / 36 here today.

Nice the mountains picked up some fresh snow before going into this long dry period.  The passes should stay pretty cold during the inversion, but ski areas that aren't on a pass could get pretty warm.

I was thinking the same thing. Went from clear at 10PM to rain much of the night with 35 mph winds to clear again by 10AM here and was fairly sunny most of the day.

49/37 here today for the last day of meteorological autumn. 37 is the current temp so will probably go lower by midnight/until fog forms.

Overnight and morning rain then afternoon showers, heavy at times, giving way to clearing skies by sunset. Seems like this chillyish airmass going into a ridge could set us up nicely for a cool inversion pattern this week.

Currently 39˚F. On Saturday, it was cooling down more rapidly. We shall see how good an inversion we get out of this setup.

Right now, it is nowhere near an inversion. Currently 33˚F atop Sumas Mountain (3400').

Looks like lots of inversion fog is coming over the next few days as weather remains boring especially by PNW standards.

Same ridge causing California to be bone dry with extended periods of offshore flow and high fire danger.

Is the Ridiculously Resilient Ridge returning?

850 mb temps are around -4c down here right now. Probably even colder up there. Obviously not an inversion pattern at all tonight, but it will be forming shortly as the upper levels warm rapidly the next 24-36 hours.

Likely but if not, then I'd at least expect summers to average consistently in the 88F-90F range while still averaging 72F here with some morning drizzle.
