Or if it moved North and east in the sweet spot giving the puget sound a huge windstorm! It wont do either but nice to dream.

Storms like the one projected for Tuesday have ended up moving towards the coast and produced historic windstorms. Doesn’t happen too often but it can.

Briefly beautiful sunrise this morning. Shot from the car. You can even see the inverted shadow of Mt. Hood.

I'm seeing that you ordered an "It's light here" comment, something downplaying current and upcoming weather events, and a mindless shoutout to 11/20/2020

You know we will never hear the end of it if 11/20/20 ends up ⛄️

Looks like we’re in the rain shadow for now. We’re up to 0.56” today and 2.70” for the month now. Through the first 13 days of the month 9 have had rainfall. Quite the contrast to November 2019 when we had 11 total days of rainfall the entire month and only 1.83” of total rainfall.

About a week way. Pretty solidly off the table at this point. :(

GFS and a decent cluster of EPS also members establish a Urals High in the extended range.

Worth monitoring. Could portend a PV weakening or stratwarm event in December, assuming the pattern actually unfolds as modeled.

Looks like Hoodoo at Santiam Pass never switched to rain and is up to a 20" base now.

1.60" of rain so far at with this system. 4.85" on the month, about up to average now, should start going above. Power has been out at the house since about 2am.

Was listening to cliff masses friday podcast this morning he was talking about the potential for a big storm on Tuesday. The low on Tuesday is definitely taking a much better track than the potential track for the friday system was showing a couple days ago. It could be one of those storms that keeps all the damaging winds either offshore or just at the coastline or come in a little farther and deliver a big windstorm. Either way at the very least there will be breezy winds, lots of rain and mountain snows coming up with or without a major windstorm. Glad this November is actually acting like November.

Looks like I am behind schedule. This was 2yrs ago today...Well it looks like a February 2019 redux is off the table now. However in 2008 I didn’t get the outside lights up until the first week of December. Wondering if I should wait.

2008 was way better than 2019, at least for me.

Just wait it out, Randy.

When are as the last time a sub 960mb low land landfall on Vancouver Island?

The details on track mean we wouldn't see a major windstorm, but it wouldn't take much to change that.

It’ll be interesting to see...very easily could end up making landfall 100 miles SE on central/south Vancouver island. That would put it in the same category as other storms like 1962 1981 1993 1995 and 2006. Were kinda overdue for a big one.

Pressure rises behind the low?

Would likely enhance vertical momentum transfer. All the big blows here feature sharp pressure surges.

Welp, with the non-event overnight the most significant weather event in the south Willamette Valley remains the Labor Day firestorm. Nothing of interest since. That will change in Dec-Jan.

Just a breezy fall day here in Bellingham, I’m back working temporarily and they have me downstairs in the middle of the building so it’s difficult for me to GOLU.  Weather station at my house is showing 45 degrees, barely any wind and .65” in the rain bucket.

Last time I did look out the window here the trees were rustling a bit but nothing special.

About the same here, though my temperature is now up to 47°F. Most of the wind action is to the south of us.
