November 2020 Weather Observations for the PNW

Yep, it directly caused the explosive growth of some fires that Monday night. I agree that that was the biggest “event” this fall for the PNW.

Briefly beautiful sunrise this morning. Shot from the car. You can even see the inverted shadow of Mt. Hood.

Yes. Was already very very dry across the region then we got hit by major strong East winds and very low DPs. It was a highly unusual windstorm hitting at a very bad time. Probably the strongest East wind event I’ve seen here in Tacoma had gusts 50-55mph.

If our biggest wind event this year is a dry September east wind, I'm not sure I'd like that idea.

We need those bombing cinnamon roll lows for a change!

242 near Chiloquin started out as a bonfire, then late that evening it grew miles in size. I went from like 15 to 200+ AQI in minutes, that was the fastest change in conditions I've seen in years here.

I was expecting there to be a fire near city limits in Klamath but thankfully we've been spared locally.

Shocker season ends on 9-30.

I disagree.  There are two HCS seasons.   But it should be noted that cold season HCS often works in the opposite direction as warm season HCS and also occurs at night most of the time.

Looks like I’m missing some really boring weather at home, which is always nice.

Was warm, humid and calm when we got here last night. Now there are extremely gusty north winds and the temp is down to a bone chilling 73. Looks like we brought a cold front with us!

Had a high of 65 wonderful degrees, currently 60 lovely degrees here at sundown. Might not see 60’s until our annual January heatwave!

Max of 60°F at KBLI today. I expect at least one 60+ midwinter heat wave. It’s fairly easy for Bellingham to get them during periods of strong southerly flow, thanks to downsloping off the Chuckanut Mountains.

Every place I’ve moved to, the weather has featured some things I expected and some things that were surprises. I expected the easier access to Fraser outflow that I get, but the midwinter heat waves were a surprise.

Gonna have some gray days with highs in the mid 40's and rain.

Half expected this place to be blowing up with a forecast like that.

It's a solid mountain snow pattern at least.

Yeah it should either snow or be sunny and warm. Maybe I should move to Colorado

What about the sun angle/sun spots, have not heard much about it lately

The sun angle has been steadily lowering.    And the models indicate it will continue for another 6 weeks... although the rate will slow dramatically.     Watching for a complete reversal by the end of the year.   Time will tell!
