Quite a frozen car this morning. 

Had to come to the office for a bit. Was showing 34 at home when I left, and by the time I got into downtown, my car was displaying a 44.

The Atmospheric ENSO Index [AEI] is indicating the strongest coupling between the atmosphere and La Nina oceanic conditions we've seen in years. This coupling signature only amplifies throughout boreal Winter 2020-2021.

A frosty look out the kitchen window this morning. Low of 31, currently 34. My walkway moss is getting a little crazy, time to dig it out of the non walkway landscaping. Phil, need any moss?

Ended up with a 49/30 day yesterday.

East winds kicked in in the afternoon and blew hard all night. Only fell to 42 this morning. I would much prefer to be in calmer conditions with fog or frost but at least it’s beautiful and sunny regardless.

Definitely starting to look like this ridgy episode could be shorter and less intense than previously advertised. Some weak systems make it in here and there too, which will limit deep inversion potential. Oh well it would be nice to see it stay active anyway.

high mountains for sure, but heights are still decently high even with an unimpressive high for pass snow.

The systems in the long range would easily be mountain snow makers. Even the system the GFS has been zeroing in on for this weekend gets thicknesses into the 530s. That is good for pass elevation snow.

The 12Z was way better for mountain snow than the 6Z, though not as good as last nights 0Z.  And that is both for Oregon and Washington.

Crazy day... my son was in a bad accident last night but he is OK.   Dealing with insurance all morning.
