Have you actually been to either Seattle or Portland? There are a ton of hills in both cities, reaching 500-1000’ elevation. It’s not even close back east. The suburbs are usually even hillier.

I’ve never been to Portland or anywhere in Oregon, but I have been to Seattle many times as you know.

The hills you describe are typical here on the piedmont. This county alone varies from 0ft to 1150ft above sea level. I don’t think you’ve actually been here or you’d think differently.

Hopefully y'all can make your way to the Willamette Valley at some point.

Yeah, Mt. Rainier will almost always be colder and/or windier. Good point.

No, it won’t. You can regurgitate that a million times and it won’t make it any more accurate.

This isn’t regional bias. I have zero personal attachment to NH and could care less what happens there wx-wise. It’s just scientific reality.

At worst it was second degree assault.  Here you would have done a month in county lockup unless your offender score is bad.

This guy drove into the shoulder to try and hit/block me. Until I forced my way out of there, we were both careening towards the divider.

So..no.

If anything, it’s a minority of wintertime ridges that make for a strong, foggy inversion. Everything has to go just right to get one here. It’s not like, say, the valleys of northern Utah and Nevada, which can get socked-in with cold and fog relatively easily in winter.

And in general, it is easier for the Willamette Valley from about Woodburn south to get such inversions than points north. The Rogue Valley around Medford is also a common place for such things to happen.

Pretty much. Not uncommon for Wilsonville south to be in inversion fog while the Portland metro remains well-mixed enough to avoid fog.

Though it’s actually really funny that people think I’m some Mt. Washington defender.

I’ve been to NH once in my life. I’ve been to WA 7 or 8 times with family living there. I’ve been to Chelan, Leavenworth, downtown Seattle, and Everett. If anything I would be biased to the latter. 😂

I think so. PNA should be negative by 3rd week of December at the latest, if I’m seeing it correctly.

I have been been to the smokies or white mountains but they look beautiful in pictures. I have been to West Virgina and Eastern Kentucky. Pretty hilly.

Why do schools out there delay or outright for the slightest patch of snow? I can't help but wonder if the bus driver's over there troll during their 4am road tests and purposely find that patch in the rural neighborhood and jiggle the wheel or do something stupid to claim "It's dangerous for kids!"

The brief lull I was experiencing with gusts just 25-35mph+ is over now! WOw that last gust was so intense and came on sudden. No build up like usual. Just a big roar and BAM!

Was there suppose to be any east winds? Isn't a weak weather system coming tomorrow?

Yep east winds were forecast to develop Thursday, then pick up Friday evening into Saturday, but not to this extent. Troutdale(above the river) at times is gusting over 50mph. Yeah weak system with spotty light rain this evening. I'm not even sure if it just splits apart with the ridge proving to be stronger than forecast. We shall see.

6z GFS in 59 minutes. I'm going to attempt to sleep. I might be back.

Pretty crazy temperature spreads in this area tonight.  30 here while it's 57 at the junction of I-90 and highway 18.  This inversion has been very shallow for the most part.  I will be surprised if the low 60s temps a couple of days go and this new warm airmass aren't offset later on.  This type of thing with a major Nina in play is usually a good sign it's going to get cold at some point.

Death To Warm Anomalies!

Western North America is pretty unrecognizable compared to the 06z just 5-7 days out. Anything beyond that is complete garbage because of these discrepancies... Not that they wouldn't be anyways...
