And so far this Fall/Winter has acted pretty much like a normal La Nina.  Ninas and Ninos are usually backloaded, not front loaded.

Dec 2010 was pretty snowy, that was my first full month I lived in K-Falls and close to 24" fell. This one is way drier than that one so far.

Snowpack update. If you want to call it snowpack 🤪

Subject to change of course. As I've mentioned a couple times I can have a bare New Years turn into nuclear winter in no time.

2010-2011 was a very strong La Nina that was worlds different than this one. That one kicked into gear in Oct for us. I had 70" of snow that Nov and another 60" that Dec. Then a Jan shutout before Feb and March went crazy. Finished the season with 330" at my house which was a top 5 all time winter.  Only at 26" currently on the season. Some areas of California are still sitting at 0" precip for this winter. While Dec 2010 had juicy AR's slamming Southern Cal.

Even in 2010 I kept alternating between snow and rain. I think when school was out mid month I had an AR or two dump rain in K-Falls, then back to snowstorms at the end of the year. Nice balance of weather.

Also had an AR in February before we started getting blizzards.

18z still keeps it fairly cool next weekend. If not for that annoying cut off low things could get downright decent.

How did your area do in March 2011 for snow? I ended up with 120" at my house that month and the storms kept getting colder and stronger the further you went into the month which was a little unusual.

I had an insane number of days I observed snow falling, but not a significant total at my place. Lots of wets (happens a lot in early Spring) and for the most part I think the snow that happened at night time made a bigger difference. My notes below... I've had way snowier Marches (15.2" in 2012! or 9.0" in 2019)

03/02/2011: Wet"
03/03/2011: Wet"
03/06/2011: T"
03/07/2011: 0.10"
03/08/2011: 0.90"
03/10/2011: Wet"
03/15/2011: T"
03/16/2011: 1.50"
03/17/2011: Wet"
03/18/2011: T"
03/19/2011: 3.00"
03/20/2011: Wet"
03/21/2011: Wet"
03/22/2011: T"
03/24/2011: Wet"
03/25/2011: Wet"
03/26/2011: Wet"
03/27/2011: T"
03/28/2011: T"

Total - 5.5"

Only around double normal March snowfall. But crazy list of days though.

Honda snow blower for the win!

Feb 2019 we had 142"

March 2018 we had 102"

Jan 2017 we had 136"

The record is 238" back in Jan 1916. I think that amount would be to much to handle for sure.

Also I would think that by the time March 1952 rolled around I would have been in a panic on where to put the snow.

Dec 1951 - 106"

Jan 1952 - 195"

Feb 1952 - 56"

March 1952 -127" Like seriously WTF

Feb 2019 and Dec 2015 locked horns with our greatest snows. Feb 1938 had 39.0" and then 2019 comes in second place with 33.4" at a cocorahs site. Dec 2015 came in 4th/5th spot at 33.1". There are no examples of anything over 40" in Dec (I'm sure there were a few in the late 1800's). January 2017 was big here but ranks a bit lower because we've had more January snowstorms than any other winter month. Still should have been a top-10 tier though. 29.5" that month. Jan 1950 is our all-time snowiest month of the year at 56.5".

Holy crap!  the 12z ECMWF and 12Z WRF both show me getting 6 or more inches of snow here early next week.  This is the time of year we can pull it off without a major cold airmass in place or an Arctic front.  The ECMWF shows some baroclinicity with the system.  Shades of Dec 1974 perhaps.
