I got my first dog that Christmas. Even harder to believe the 08’ event was 12 years ago already. Time flies. Both beautiful memories for sure. The 1990 blast was particularly enjoyable. Ended up with 3-4 inches going into it, then we had a bunch of swollen ponds and such around town that were overfilled from the previous floods which froze solid. All kinds of ridiculousness ensued... Quote My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

I got married that month and had to finish a deck off the church we were married in. Digging gravel in 20f temps was brutal on many levels. I was also helping frame a house and all the ply and lumber was frozen and incredible hard to work with. And we left for our honeymoon on the 28th, the day before we would have some snow to enjoy. Although the Cabo sunshine and the fact that it was on my honeymoon was nice too I guess.

February 2014 was great too— lots of snowdrifts as that East wind howled the whole event. Overall more snow fell in December 2008, but the only real blizzard I ever experienced in NW OR was in Jan 2004. I almost lost power one morning with 50+ mph gusts and heavy snow falling. The sky had this unreal purple look at dark, and some limbs came loose from trees. This was a little before the ice storms. I didn't have my own camera until late 2008. So no extensive documentation of those other storms. I lived in Bethany from Aug '99 to June '04. I was addressed as Portland but I was maybe 5 miles north of Beaverton. SilverFallsAndrew
In the Salem/Silverton area 2008 had only a couple inches more snow than the Dec 29-Jan 8th period in 2004.
