It's down to 0.6c (33F) here now, but still mostly rain. Just the odd burst of snow once in awhile. If it drops much more we'll be into freezing rain before we get any snow 🙃

Yeah what is wrong with this.  Literally places in Vancouver are getting snow before us.  What is the euro And gfs smoking lol

Seems to me we are trending toward a pattern where storms track toward southern Oregon/Northern California....reminds me of 1992-93.

That was a really good winter.

Totally agree... one my favorite patterns in the winter months.

92-93 was a volcanically-influenced winter IIRC. Not the best analog IMO but it would be big if true.

Usually makes for lots of cold, dry weather this far north, with opportunities for transition events.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Further update, it briefly switched to all (wet) snow a few times, the roads are pretty rough out there with lots of standing water....Back home now to find the parts to lift my car came early..., so time to dive under a cold soggy car and get about 2" more ground clearance on the 'ole TDI wagon!

edit:  currently 36 with .98" in the rain gauge.  Looks like precip rates almost hit .5" per hours while I was out.

Theoretically we tend to be cooler when that happens in the winter.

This is most 33 degree I’ve ever had...starting to get more snow mixed in now here in Gordon head.

As I mentioned before I got my license in late November 1992...I become an expert in driving a 1975 rear wheel drive El Camino in slick conditions! Got studded snow tires from my dad for Christmas! 😀

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Getting more consistent large snowflakes mixed in here too, the upper levels must finally be cooling off. It's funny, the current surface temperature here (0.5C/32.9F) is slightly cooler than Shawnigan (0.7C/33.2F) but there's probably around 4~6" up there already.

Current Oregon snow pack. Doing well, near to moderately above average.

Will be interesting to compare how these numbers look in a few days after the AR event.

Honestly didn’t take as much of a hit as I was expecting.

This map likely shows where they bottom out in the short term, since they should get some decent snowfall tonight.

Already one message from someone complaining about all of the "off topic" talk from members in Canada and NW WA.

Just a note, generally the coastal lowlands from Crescent City, CA to Haines, AK are impacted one way or another from the same Pacific systems. This forum is for those folks. If there is a strong interest in an Oregon only discussion thread, then create it. If the thread is active, it will get pinned.

Lol, yeah that is nonsense. The more, the merrier! I love seeing posts from other areas of the west coast.

I concur, when I spent time in Sitka, AK I found it to be eerily similar in weather to here .
